    Cabela's: Good or bad?

If you want to get a good price, list your guns on Gunbroker. A 3 or 5 day auction will tell you what they are worth. Otherwise, expect to get ripped off. You might also find an LGS that will sell on consignment and THEY list the guns on gunbroker. I have one near me and they sell lots of...

Super Redhawk Alaskan .454 Casull among other things...

a comment about the Rimrock bullets - if you look at the Buffalobore ammo on their website, they put a heavy crimp on their 45LC / 454 ammo. The Rimrock bullets that they use have a deep crimp groove which allows this. They must use some custom bullet molds because I haven't seen crimp...

Super Redhawk Alaskan .454 Casull among other things...

If you need some bullets faster, try RimRock bullets (they supply the bullets to Buffalobore) or Cast Performance. But Beartooth bullets are the best. They are just very slow to deliver.

Super Redhawk Alaskan .454 Casull among other things...

Be patient with Beartooth Bullets. They are a small operation and, in my experience, usually take at least 3 months to fill an order. But as they say "worth the wait". Your targets don't look too bad. There are lots of people carrying bear guns that can't shoot that well.

    LCP II, Ruger's strange instruction

There is NO FIRING PIN BLOCK/SAFETY on any LCP. The first gen LCPs (I have one) were DAO hammer fired with the hammer flush with the back of the receiver so it was and is a very safe gun even without a Firing Pin Block. Then they changed it to striker fired with no manual safety and no...

Let's talk bear guns for a moment

You might want to look for a Butler Creek / Uncle Mikes grip for the Redhawk. They are out of production but sometimes become available on forums. http://www.gunpartscorp.com/Products/1287770.htm

Let's talk bear guns for a moment

Maybe, with a 5 or 6 inch barrel, but I seriously doubt that this is true with a G29

Super Redhawk Alaskan .454 Casull among other things...

Not necessary in the sense that the 45 Redhawk can handle the hot loads that people assume you need a 454 Alaskan for. But I agree about the grips. It took me awhile to settle on Pachmayr Presentation grips and the Uncle Mikes grips.

Super Redhawk Alaskan .454 Casull among other things...

I have a 4.0 inch Redhawk in 45LC. Using the 345 grain Beartooth bullet, Starline brass, Federal Magnum primers and a carefully worked up amount of H110, I get an average velocity of 1235 fps over my chronograph at about 12 feet from the muzzle. I too would like to see a 4 inch Alaskan, but...

What .44 Magnum is the most fun?

Just a few more points - Full power loads to me mean 1200-1300 fps. I shoot 240, 300, 325 and 355 grain hardcast bullets at that speed. If you want to shoot bullets in the 800-1000 fps range, then wood grips are fine, open backstraps are fine, lightweight guns are fine. But for full power...

What .44 Magnum is the most fun?

Grips are always a personal thing, so I can only tell you how it feels to me. There is always a difference between how a grip feels when you hold the gun and how it feels to actually shoot a full power load. The factory wood grips feel great until I actually try to shoot a full power load...

What .44 Magnum is the most fun?

Let's be clear about something - there is no difference in "strength" between the Redhawk and SuperRedhawk. there is a difference in strength between the Redhawk/SRH and the Blackhawk/SBH. Check with Brian Pearce on this. In 44Mag, it won't matter because they both handle the hottest magnum...

What .44 Magnum is the most fun?

Here's my 5.5 inch Redhawk with Pachmayr Presentation grips. There are plenty of used ones on gunbroker in the $600 - $700 range. They tend to hold up real well.

Why is muzzle discipline so hideously poor amongst Olympic shotgun shooters?

I shoot a lot of trap, skeet, 5 stand and sporting clays..... If the action is open, the shotgun is safe. It doesn't matter where the barrel is pointed. If the gun is loaded or the action is closed, that shooter had better be on the line and the shotgun had better be pointed downrange...

    GP100 5" OR 686 4" or 6"?

Have you actually chrono'd that or are you just reading it off the box? I've gotten almost 1200 fps with 9mm NATO 124 gr. out of a 5 inch barrel but with most 9mm 124 gr. ammo, I get 1100 fps. With a 4 inch 357, you can get 1200 fps with a 158 gr. bullet easily. If you're making decisions...

    GP100 5" OR 686 4" or 6"?

My 4.2 inch GP-100 will shoot (my handloads) - the 180 grain Missouri Bullet at 1312 fps, the 185 grain Beartooth Bullet at 1293 fps, and the 158 grain LSWC bullets at 1305 fps. I completely disagree with this statement - Top end 9mm loads (my handloads) are about 1000-1050 fps with a 147...

An interesting story at the doctors office

This is complete garbage. There has never been one case of an XD failing to fire because of the grip safety. If grip safeties were dangerous, why are they still on 1911's after a hundred years of use? I think that Glock fanboys should remove the seat belts, airbags and every other safety...

Me too. It's easy to do and the gun will never go off accidentally.

An interesting story at the doctors office

These things always happen with Glocks. The Glock fanboys always blame it on training. But it's always a Glock. Doesn't happen with a J frame. My 642 has a 12 lb trigger pull. I could pull the gun out of my pocket, lifting it by the trigger, and it would never fire. Doesn't happen with a LCP...

    Very discouraged with subcompact autos...

My XDS has been flawless. My 642 has been flawless too. One works great for pocket carry, the other is IWB only. For every guy who gets on the internet to complain about something, there are at least a hundred satisfied customers who don't have any problems. In your case, I would give SA...
