    Beretta 92X Quality

I've owned several 92 variants over the years. The latest was a 92x Centurion purchased in December. After adding an LTT slide, trigger job in a bag, Holosun EPS, and a TLR7 I intend to make it my primary carry gun for as long as I can shoot it effectively.

    Know-it-alls in Training

I go through a mental exercise before each training class to dedicate myself to opening my mind. Every technique, tactic, and habit can be on the table to try something new as long there are no safety issues. If I wanted to keep doing things the way I've been doing them without reflecting on it...

    Avoiding Trouble

Greg is a very talented author. I read his book earlier this year, and have given out a couple of copies to friends who travel.

    Rail Light or Handheld?

No, but I see what you mean. If you'll let me rephrase -- I have yet to reach a point where training has such a diminishing point of return that it's no longer worth my while. First hand experiences sometimes solidify existing views that I have, and other times they change my mind on things...

    Rail Light or Handheld?

I see. I didn't mean to rag on you whatsoever. I think we have differing thoughts on training and when it's useful. I've survived 3 deployments and a couple of civilian incidents in the states. Yet I still train every year, because I still have curiosity and a desire to learn. Perhaps one day...

    Why would you say that?

    Rail Light or Handheld?

Escalation -- Depending on context and use, it may indeed be a move to gain more control over a situation in a way that's reasonable and appropriate. It's not completely dissimilar to the notion that introducing a gun into an encounter is an attempt to gain control over a situation, fight back...

    Rail Light or Handheld?

Oh wow. Yeah, I definitely didn't do a good job of conveying my point. To nutshell it: A handheld light should be used as a data gathering tool when one reasonably believes that more data is warranted to help them gain information that could greatly impact their safety.

    Rail Light or Handheld?

It sounds like you're speaking out against randomly shining lights on people and object for no reason. While I happen to agree, I'm a little confused. Are you sure you're meaning to respond to my post? If so, can you highlight the part where you thought that's what I was recommending? I'd very...

    Rail Light or Handheld?

You're right, not every parking garage is a dark parking garage. Not every stairwell is dark. Not every alley is dark. Some are well-lit until they're not, then they become dark. Just because you've never been in a dark parking garage doesn't mean that they don't exist. I've not advocated for...

    Rail Light or Handheld?

Handheld and rail mounted lights serve different purposes. A handheld is a data gathering tool. What was that noise? Who's over there? That guy walking toward me in the dark parking garage -- what's that in his hand? Oh gosh, the dog's toy rolled under the couch again. A WML is a threat...

    Anyone Carrying Glock 42?

I carry a G43 in a Comfortac belly band when exercising. It bore the gun for thousands of miles when I was into ultramarathons and trail running. No issues.

Is a modular suppressor a big deal?

I reconfigure my Wolfman quite a bit, and enjoy it's modularity. On a Stribog in long configuration with subsonic ammo, it's very quiet. It makes me smile to shoot it, and same for new shooters or shooters new to cans. When I use it on a pistol it tends to be in short configuration. On a...

How does that Silencer help your shooting

It makes range time more fun for me, and for newer shooters. For HD, one could have a can mounted on something like an AR pistol. It will still be plenty loud, but the mitigation of blast would help take the edge off of potential hearing loss.

    John Ross

I found this thread while browsing the In Memoriam thread when i thought of another member who hadn't logged in for a while. Thanks for UI, John. It was a seminal work. Describing what it opened my eyes to would get me in trouble on THR in this day and age, so I'll leave it at that. Rest easy...

Could I go wrong with a Dead Air Wolfman for my AK-V?

Well I'll be darned. How nice to get an upside surprise. On the other forum the advice I recall reading a couple years ago when deciding on the purchase was that some 5.56 was fine, but that I ought not run the can as hard as I might if I took it to a class and went through a case of ammo in a...

Could I go wrong with a Dead Air Wolfman for my AK-V?

I should have clarified, the Wolfman isn't rated for 5.56. Informally, Todd from DA said on another forum that light duty (2-3 mags, not full auto) shouldn't be a problem. Since my post, I've gotten a booster assembly. I'm looking forward to trying the Wolfman on a pistol sometime soon!

    Are guns your passion?

Haha, I could have broken my post into things that get more money and things that get more time rather than lumping them together. Meditation falls into the "more time" category. I've tried a few apps out and I believe the current one runs about $100 / year.
