    Wilderness survival rifle thoughts?

I'll take my Henry .22 thanks. Minute of squirrel accurate at 50yds, light enough, quick pointing, fast follow up shots & 21 rounds of .22 short. At bowhunting ranges, a .22 in the head is a quick kill on pretty much anything that ain't a bear or buff, whether it has 4 legs or only 2. What's...

    Chokes for clays

I appreciate your help & advice, thank you. The payload chart is quite the eye opener!

    Chokes for clays

Sorry, I did a couple of trap rounds today. Thanks for the info though, I didn't realize skeet was normall shot with smaller shot. All I've ever shot is 7½s

    Chokes for clays

I've just got started shooting a few clays on what I intend to be a regular basis, weekly at least. I've shot trap & skeet before, but only very occasionally & never seriously. I'm quite frankly a terrible wing shooter & I figured that actually doing this more than once or twice a year would...

    Iver Johnson Champion question

Just a quicky here. I've just picked up a really nice little IJ Champion .410 & the top lever seems very loose. Should it be sprung, or is it a simple friction lever?

And I'd thought I'd seen everything....

Still do! I've had a 'coon oosik in my pocket for years.

What is the general view [quality] of Henry lever action .22lr?

FYI, if your Mom's gun does have the plastic foresight/barrel band & forestock band, give Henry a call. Their CS is absolutely the best in the business. They'll send you the newer, metal parts absolutely free of charge. I've shot & carried my H001 enough that the front site was actually worn...

Load testing & evaluation range .45-70

I've just reloaded my first ever rounds. I have 2 .45-70 rifles; a Browning high wall & a Marlin 1895. I've loaded 5 rounds of each powder quantity from minimum to maximum (50 total for each gun), one set of 50 with cast 405gn bullets for the high wall, one with 350gn Hornadys for the Marlin...

    Chokes: Screw-in or fixed?

Ooooooh, bad analogy. My first love is Osage selfbows, my second is my flint longrifle..... My modern guns are purely a means to an end. My fun shooting is all done with wooden bows & arrows or black powder, flint & round balls.

    Polychoke removal questions.....

I have a Stevens 775 16ga that I am considering trading. It has an un-ribbed 26" barrel with a polychoke fitted. The barrel is marked as being originally a modified choke. I know the chokes are almost impossible to remove & that once removed, threading the barrel for tubes is pretty expensive...

    Chokes: Screw-in or fixed?

I'm looking to trade my shotgun, a 16ga Stevens 775 semi-auto with polychoke, hopefully for a SxS 12 or 16ga. Now, I know my gun isn't worth a whole lot & I don't really want to throw around much moolah so I'm expecting to be looking for guns along the lines of Fox model Bs, Stevens 311s...

    General purpose 22LR Rifle

Henry, hands down. No, you can't dick around with it like you can 10-22s, but you can shoot longs & shorts, it'll run all day, weighs nothing & is accurate as all get out. I wouldn't trade you mine for a crate of Rugers.

Best ammo for Winchester model 94?

I've always had good luck with the Rem Core-lokt. I'd like to try the Leverevolution, but for now the Remington works fine & it's cheap enough to shoot more often.

Gun You HAD To Get, Got, Then Lost Interest

10/22 for me. I didn't want one for ever, then I spent a day with a gunsmith who does a lot of custom work on Rugers & decided I HAD to have one. Picked one up in a trade for a CZ452 & spent a TON of money scoping it & getting it how I thought I needed it. Shot maybe 50 rounds through it & then...

    Favorite woods/trail gun?

Henry .22 is my usual woods/farm/mooching gun with 15 LR in the tube & a handfull of loose in my pocket. If I'm going to be anywhere a little hairier I'll switch it out for my 366 in .44mag. 10 in the magazine & I don't usually bother with any more. I carry both rifles in my hand, rather than slung.

    Your betting gun (picture thread)

    Thank you! It's a .54 with a 1:60 twist. I shoot 90gn of FFG black powder, a .020 ticking patch & a .530 cast ball.

    Who Bubbaed your Enfield?

No4 mk1 1946 vintage. It's my 'other' never part with gun, along with my Henry .22 I figure between the two i'm covered for anything that walks, crawls, swims or flies!

    Who Bubbaed your Enfield?

I bought mine as a pre-Bub'd rifle. It wasn't too bad, but it still had the full length, whippy barrel & a home-made aperture sight. I threw a couple of hundred at it; Fitted a scope, bedded the action, had the bolt-head skimmed to properly headspace the PPU ammunition it likes, piked the...

Henry Repeating arms .22 lever action

Here's a post I made on another forum..... "I'm not usually one to get all frothy in praise of a corporation but I'm going to have to here. In the recent thread asking for opinions on the Henry .17hmr I mentioned that I'd really like to polish the receiver of my H001 if I could get a matching...
