The Remington Model 31 is the finest pump action ever made, fight me

I've got a model 10 Trap Grade that was my dad's. Slick old gun that's too long for me, but I won't cut it down because it's probably 100 years old. I occasionally shoot a few pasture clays with it. I understand some parts for it are unobtainium.

    Days Like This...

I've been to both Florida and Arizona in the winter. I much prefer Arizona. Florida is a neat place, but where we were, it's wall to wall traffic and people. Most likely we'll just stay in Colorado. Today it's 73, tomorrow, cold again.

    Plinker's Paradise

As we found out one day when H&Hhunter was here, watermelons and a .470 Nitro Express makes for a fun day.

    Your 'Rodney Dangerfield' guns.

A couple: Mini14. Bought mine used in the early 80s for $225, with a Weaver 4x scope. I had a lot of fun with it until the internet came along and told me it was inaccurate, barrel heated up to uselessness after a few shots, etc. I took it to the range, sighted it in, and tested it. We have...

    Something Different

Very nice, but going to have to call this off topic.

What is the nicest gun you were ever given as a gift?

My wife gave me my M1 Garand, my M1 Carbine, my WW2 1911, and my Wiley Clapp Colt Commander, among others, so it's hard to pick just one.

I now officially own one of Jack O'Connor's firearms.

Congratulations! My dad was a huge fan of Jack's.

Guns You Should Have Bought When You Had The Chance, And Now Regret Not Buying

Johnson rifle my dad bought from an estate sale in the 80s. He couldn't get $150 for it at gun shows. He had no interest as he was a hunter and I wasn't into military arms at that time. I loaded up 50 rounds for it and played for a bit, and then he sold it. I could have bought a Thompson in...

While I love dogs more than most, I have to close this. It's simply off topic for THR.

    My MOST MEMORABLE shot.

Coyote at 550 yards. He was across my neighbor's cornfield. Just as I was squeezing the trigger on my 1903 in 25-06, he turned and faced the other way, Texas heart shot! It almost forgot tore him in half! I had shot one broadside a week earlier at 500 yards. I had just returned from...

Whats the worst thing youve left/lost at the range?

Gas block for my Garand blew off at the Whittington silhouette range. Couldn't find it. A kind THR moderator, @1911Tuner, saw my dilemma and sent me one, free of charge.

Got to see and fire a gorgeous old rifle yesterday

Moving this to Rifles, which actually gets a lot more traffic than General.

    17 HMR and weather???

When my groups start opening up on my 17, I give the barrel a good cleaning, but it takes around 500 rounds to get to that point. I don't like over-cleaning any rimfire. True. I recall reading that a 5 MPH breeze can move the bullet 5" at 100 yards. My guess is that the breeze was blowing...

    Brass on a new gun

Having been in the awards business for over 40 years, I can tell you that it's almost certainly finished with baked on lacquer. Eventually it will wear from use and tarnish in those spots. I would just wipe it down to clean it. Products like Brasso or Flitz will remove the coating eventually...
