Over-pressure Event --> At what point should you be worried about the gun?

~3.75" OAL with the 220 gr Nosler gets me to the lands (tips aren't consistent). 3.6" is magazine length.

Over-pressure Event --> At what point should you be worried about the gun?

It appears that head-space is about the same. If it changed, it was not by much. Head-space gauges are on back-order, so I am basing this on shooting some factory Remington Corelokts (pulled the bullets and reloaded with Trailboss). I get the odd round that's hard to close on and has rub marks...

Over-pressure Event --> At what point should you be worried about the gun?

Does one need to remove the barrel to inspect the receiver bolt recesses properly?

Over-pressure Event --> At what point should you be worried about the gun?

88 gr of Retumbo OAL 3.8" 220 gr Nosler Custom Competition. ETA: If anybody has Quickload and would be kind enough to run it for me, I would be very appreciative. The above is what the load was supposed to be. 102 gr is my estimate of the max amount of powder one could load and still seat a bullet.

Over-pressure Event --> At what point should you be worried about the gun?

Hmm, wonder if Remington would be my best bet to get it checked out.

Over-pressure Event --> At what point should you be worried about the gun?

Hmm. This has just jumped to the front of my list. The gun is chambered much tighter than I would have thought for a factory gun.

Over-pressure Event --> At what point should you be worried about the gun?

I'd wager that full length cracks are due to poor brass metallurgy (for whatever reason). For those wondering Remington 700 Long Range in 300 RUM, Remington cases, Retumbo powder, Federal GM LRM primers, 220 gr Nosler Custom Competitions...

Over-pressure Event --> At what point should you be worried about the gun?

This wasn't the result of a load workup. The load is inside published data and is one I'd shot a bit already. The primers weren't even being flattened and velocity was inline with data... and then that. Pulled down all the remaining rounds and they were correctly charged. By bridged, I mean I...

Over-pressure Event --> At what point should you be worried about the gun?

So let's suppose that one has a round that was clearly over-pressure. At what point should you be worried that the action could be compromised? This is all in the context of a modern bolt-action. My thoughts (not statements of facts) When, I say "no big deal", I don't mean that you should...

    How often to trim 223?

The SAAMI min is 1.730" per the drawing. I attempted to answer a very similar question (specific to AR15s in my case). https://www.mdshooters.com/showthread.php?t=189714

    357 Sig

If the neck is so short, 0.110" I believe, what exactly does having a longer bearing surface do? I am under the impression that a bullet's suitability for 357 SIG has more to do with the bullet's parallel bearing surface lining up with the case neck when loaded to the proper oal. The longer...

Does anything have a slimmer ocular profile than the Weaver V series scopes?

Good to hear that the Japanese Weavers are still Japanese.

Does anything have a slimmer ocular profile than the Weaver V series scopes?

I think the Zeiss Conquests used to be the best bang for the buck in terms of optical performance. I have a few. They most certainly do not have a slim ocular and are actually my comparison point as to why I like the Weaver Classic Vs so much. I tried to put a 4.5-14x44 Conquest on a couple of...

Does anything have a slimmer ocular profile than the Weaver V series scopes?

My favorite scope is a Weaver V-16 4-16x40 AO. The mechanics are quite good actually, the optics tolerable bordering on decent, and it just plain fits on rifles. That last part is the part that's key and why I like that scope so much. I have other scopes that are much better optically, but the...

223 cases falling over dillon xl650

I would bet it's dropping the cases too soon. You might need to flip that ramp around or adjust it so that the cases are dropped later on in the upstroke.

    30-06 Die recommendation

The neck can certainly be "bent" when lowering the ram and expanding the neck back out. I've also observed that the shouldered can quite easily be pulled forward by the expander. I don't understand why factory dies insist on sizing the neck so small and then expanding. Brass does not exist with...

I wonder if that is a Wilson barrel? The Barrels when I bought mine were described has having been hand lapped and also chrome lined.
