How Effective Are Machineguns vs. Tanks?

My Drill Sergeant told me about a time in Iraq when he was a E-5 Sgt and a gunner on a tank. A combatant stepped in front of his tank hip firing an AK. The whole crew kinda sat there dumbfounded till DS Lopez lit the guy up with the coax.

How Effective Are Machineguns vs. Tanks?

Yes visibility is heavily limited, but in an urban setting, tanks should be supported by infantry. Think back to Fury or Saving Private Ryan and you'll see what I mean. The infantry cover the tank's soft spots and the tank is able to take out anything that is a threat. I speak from experience...

    selling a gun?

If the offer could be seen as low-balling, they are wasting my time. I've gone to listing what I'm willing to take firm so I don't have to deal with them. This guy dealing with a lowballer made me laugh so hard. Warning: Foul language is used and he drops the n-word a time or two. Watch them...

    selling a gun?

I used to sell one gun to get another. However, I always end up wanting it back so I've decided to not sell any guns unless it's a financial need. There is no shame in selling a gun to pay bills. As to the price people are offering, there are many people who throw out low ball offers simply...

    if M-16's were legal again...

That could be said of guns in general. The vast majority of gun owners never end up using their guns for self defense. The extra background check is acceptable but it would be so horribly back-logged if people could buy new FA firearms so it would need reworking as well.

    da/sa pistol

I remember the P-07 was on sale for just under $400 for a while there. I had one, it was a good pistol, but just didn't work good for me. My friend was much better with it than I was.

    if M-16's were legal again...

They will take a hit, but I'm sure that they are happier that getting FA firearms will be easier than sad that their investment depreciates heavily.

    if M-16's were legal again...

You wouldn't even really need a new rifle, either get a FA lower or a jig to drill the holes and the cost of the sear parts. That could make all current AR's into FA or burst. As to the gentlemen who said something about the cost, Most probably would rarely use the FA/Burst function, but I'd...

What exactly is the draw of the AR platform?

You can get a decent AR for far less than 1200. You can build your own PSA for between $500 and $600 or even get a Colt 6920 (overrated IMO, but some say the best) for $750-$800 on sale. In AK's you can get a WASR for ~$600. They used to be considered junk but they have increased in quality...

What exactly is the draw of the AR platform?

Right now one of the big draws of the platform is the price. Right now they are so low there isn't a good reason not to build a few.

Best $600 AK on the market?

PSA just released their AK so that may be worth waiting for, but you should wait until they get some reviews on them.

    Got a CZ P-09

The only negative I see about the P-09 is that it won't take cz75 mags only p09 mags and they are pricey, $40-$50.

    Got a CZ P-09

Mrgunsngear did a review on the P-09 and I like his reviews because he frequents another forum I am a member of. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYJMfoKv-Mc

    Colts stocking dealer program

That is what this whole post is about. Colt is trying to, maybe blackmail isn't the word, but strong arm dealers into buying their 1911's so that the dealers can get the ARs. If they don't, Colt won't sell to them at all. This seems like a very short-sighted strategy based on the notion that...

    Colts stocking dealer program

Sounds like they are trying to bank on their name. It sounds like the mentality is that dealers can't afford NOT to have Colt firearms so Colt can set the terms. The truth as has been previously mentioned is that there are a lot of AR and 1911 makers out there now.

    Current GSSF Pricing?

As the Gen 3 and 4 pricing is the same for the other models I'd imagine it'd be the same. I'm sure you could call your preferred Blue Label Dealer and ask if nothing else.

Best $600 AK on the market?

I think Veprs are a great deal now and Classicfirearms.com has them for $599 currently. The only negative is the slant receiver so you either have to get an adapter or a stock made for a vepr. The magazine conversion isn't that difficult from what I understand, just installing a bullet guide...

    SCAR 16: overpriced?

Several rifles have come and gone in the attempt to replace the M4/16, I just don't think the armed forces will ever replace it until there's a significant jump in technology. As previously mentioned, there have been rifles that outperformed the M4/16 platform, just not well enough to justify...

    SCAR 16: overpriced?

I distinctly put "lol" at the end of my sentence indicating I was joking. I didn't think he was talking down to me. I was hamming up being the victim, no insult was taken and no feelings were hurt. :D

    SCAR 16: overpriced?

I actually haven't had the opportunity to try out a Garand. I'm only into my 4th year of gun interest. As much as I'd like to get a Garand, their cost seems prohibitory right now because of school and new baby. I'm hoping that the Korean ones can come home at a decent price. Bet you feel...
