    Who carries a small caliber?

Carry a small gun, not a overly small caliber. Kahr PM9. Will reliably fire hollowpoint 9mm +P+ which has plenty of stopping power. Close to 357 mag in power, and similar recoil so you can practice on regular lower pressure 9mm at the range for cheap proficiency training.

    CCW and the handicapped

I would look to Vriess for inspiration, the wheelchair bound badass from Alien Resurrection!

    "Best for Bears" caliber poll

Don't even JOKE about that! Now I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight. In that situation, a 9mm would be fine, as you might as well just abandon all hope and check out before it leaves you an infected quadriplegic tattered zombie.

    "Best for Bears" caliber poll

Where's the heavy 5.56 non-expanding poll option for the headshot? You've got 30 rnds to mag dump. Sorry, just trying to find a practical application for my new toy aside from zombipocolypse. :D Realistically, I'd feel safest with the .500 S&W, followed by a shoryuken if charging at close...

Red Dot Mounting Preference + Cowitness

Done and done. That's about as far back as I could move the rear iron before the bottom little "hump" in the RD optic starts to obscure it.

This is the sight picture (sorry dot was turned off):

Red Dot Mounting Preference + Cowitness

I purchased a Bushnell TRS-25 Red Dot, and first mounted it towards the front of the factory rail about centered over the magazine of my PLR-16. This seems to work fine, but renders the rear iron sight useless. The TRS-25 has a little deal on the bottom right corner that prevents cowitness...

The Caliber Wars! Myths Vs. Reality.

I can understand the skepticism about TWC in the gut, but in the chest you're liable to hit the lungs. With smaller calibers your magazine capacity is drastically increased (compared to say 45), and certainly there is no "one shot one kill" limit and you could dump an entire magazine in short...

    anyon have info on kahrs?

Did Kahr every have an opportunity to fix it? They have a five year warranty and should have replaced or fixed whatever was defective for you.

    Help! I've got the Shakes

I didn't notice how bad my twitching was until I purchased a laser for my Beretta. A firm reinforcing grip with my off hand wrapped around my right really helped steady the dot.

    anyon have info on kahrs?

If the price difference is that great, I would definitely go w/ the 40. Personally, I prefer to buy online, as the shipping + $25 FFL rarely exceeds state tax, and prices tend to be better. Just bought a Kel Tec for example that locally I couldn't find for under $520+tax and got it from...

The Caliber Wars! Myths Vs. Reality.

Thanks for the comparison. Even 9mm hollowpoints make a pretty big hole from what I have seen, and the smaller calibers often have much larger magazine capacity and lower recoil, making followup shots far more likely to connect well. In essence, I'd rather get three shots in with 9mm...

    anyon have info on kahrs?

I have a Kahr PM9, and even got an engraved slide as I really like it, tinsy winsy and super light but reliably shoots everything I have ever fed it. Will take +P+ 9mm hollowpoints without complaint, and is a fantastic little gun in super hot and humid Houston where even with the thinnest...

    Sling-Shooting Pointers

Ah, so its really just a personal preference thing. I ask as I know when it comes to stances most tend to agree there are right ways and wrong ways to position your body, with some experts getting very specific about exactly how the gun should be held and was curious if that translated to...

    Victim shoots kidnapper

A great reminder to all us kidnappers to securely store our firearms when not on our person. But seriously, glad she got him, and with a gut shot no less so it was far from quick and painless. He was a convicted sex offender and she knew him as well, but apparently not as well as she thought.

    Sling-Shooting Pointers

I just received my PLR-16 pistol, and installed the Kel-Tec single point sling. :D I have no plans on using it for carrying purposes, but have been informed it works well as a substitute for a stock, but using tension pushing away rather than tucking into the shoulder. I assume that...

Carrying a Pistol Perceived as Antisocial?

Hell yeah! Make some room! *starts break dancing* Most people don't know that I carry a pistol unless they reach in my pants, in which case we are already pretty good friends, so it simply isn't a factor. :)

Convincing my Mom that it's okay for me to OC

I conceal carry, but if I were concerned about a road-rage encounter that I could not avoid, then I could certainly make the decision to reveal my holstered firearm or unholster it and get the same desired effect. However, I wouldn't feel the need to brandish and announce to everyone at Krogers...

    Open Carrying a Rifle...

You don't have to draw a line at all. The 2nd amendment involves the government's permission to use force against the populace to stop them. That is completely different from an individual voluntarily choosing to restrain his behavior for social friendliness. The first amendment before it...

Convincing my Mom that it's okay for me to OC

Exactly, I agree entirely, and was what I was trying to get across. The "jerk factor" involves people that open carry for the express purpose of being intimidating, be it the Black Panthers or just some guy that puts a big gun on his hip for all to see with chin up and chest puffed so people...
