Today I received the Dillon Case Gauge I ordered. I started to gauge some empty 223 cases I previously re-sized and noticed some case rims very slightly protruded over the gauge cut. I mean very slightly protruded. All the cases however chambered perfectly in my rifles chamber which I have...
Thanks to all the replies. I bought some papers clips and did as suggested and felt nothing out of the ordinary. I then looked at the chamber of my rifle and saw a bunch of rough circles all throughout it. I figured out where the ring came from. Again thanks for the help.
I don't have any paper clips but I shined a light down there and didn't see any bulging. Also I ran a fingernail on the line and didn't feel anything. I will try and get a better picture.
I was trimming some brass and I noticed some pieces had a slight ring around the middle of the brass. I know the load I used in the pieces were not hot loads maybe midway between min and max charge. Also I just full length resized them so I don't know if the sizing die did that or what. Any help...
I bought 10,000 Wolf Small Rifle Magnum Primers when they were on sale right before Sandy Hook. I have about 6000 primers left. They are great for range ammo but I wouldn't use them for SD/HD reloads. My FTF's with them could be due to the powder clumping in the rounds. If I were you though I...
UPDATE: Thank you to all who replied. I tore down the first couple of rounds and reloaded them with 23.9grs of h335 to test out. I did not test for accuracy just pressure signs and there was none. I am now going to test for accuracy. So again thanks for the help.
Sorry for the delays. I am glad I read this when I did. I was about to go and try out these new loads. I used the 62gr data on the hodgdon website which stated 19.3gr of powder. I am going to tear down these loads and put more powder in them so they are up to par with the 63gr data. Thank you...
Thanks for the quick replies. I did not think to mention the OAL of my brass. It varies from 1.755 to 1.757. I like to keep the brass on the longer side. I am going to load a few up right now with 19.3grs of powder.
Hey all I recently bought a 1lb jar of H335 to try out and I can not find any load data for the SS109 projectiles. On the Hodgdon website it only has one load data for the 62gr but it is not for the SS109. So if their is anyone using H335 powder and SS109 bullets what is your load data? I will...
I like all the fancy bells and whistles. I have an AK74 with rails and lights and I wouldn't go back to the classic look for anything. Having lights and foregrips attached makes the gun look so much cooler.
Hey all I just bought a Glock +2 mag extension and it got me wondering do I need a different mag spring or will the factory spring be sufficient? I don't want to overload the factory spring by putting 19 rounds in the mag and the spring was only meant to work with 17 rounds. Any help is...
Hey everyone I came across a whole lotta of PMC 308 brass that I plan to reload someday. As I was cleaning it up I noticed it had a ring around the neck and shoulder area. This brass was fired from a Springfield Armory M-14. Can anyone tell me if it is okay to reload or do I need to throw it...
OK thanks for the replies. I know 300 blk brass is easily converted from 556 brass. I did not think it was possible for a reloader to crimp or stake their primers themselves. When I saw this 300blk cartridge with the staked in primer I thought this had to be a factory round but what company uses...
Really? The 556 brass that I have found that had staked in primers was very easy to work with. It was no different than swaging a crimp. Just get enough room for the primer to enter and your good to go. Also I am using a Dillon 600 so decrimping is easy.
I'm not mistaken. Most LC brass does have a circle crimp. I have reloaded thousands of rounds and had to swage the crimp from the primer pocket. In those thousands of rounds I have seen a several that have those same staked in primers. I have even asked some armorers at my job and they told me...
