    Mossberg Maverick 88 Part

The sky is blue and water is wet unless its frozen, then its cold. Argue about that for a while. Been a member here for soon to be 5 years and have less than 30 posts. I guess that makes me a lurker. The Maverick is a Throwaway or sometimes called a Throwdown. Its Cheap Cheap Cheap. Cheap to...

    Mossberg Maverick 88 Part

I think they intended these to be a throwaway gun. I have one that had a dent in the mag tube and I couldnt find a replacement for love or money. I wound up removing the dent with a ground down deep socket and some valve grinding compound. Good luck.

Need help on swapping barrels - Mossberg 500

Why dont you run the numbers for me an convince me. Being up on your physics and all it should be an easy task. The whole point is that for HD 2 3/4 is more than adequate. Sorry if you think I am irresponsible. Thats not the first time ive been accused of that. Im trying not to be rude even if...

questions 11-87 premier 28" light contour barrel

Id say chokes may be the issue. Ive been doing some research and the general consensus seems to be that factory chokes arent worth picking out of the trash. Im going to try some trulocks.

    Modify or Buy New?

On our local gun board there is almost nothing but HD shotguns for sale and they are a dime a dozen. Most of them shot very little. Buy another.

Need help on swapping barrels - Mossberg 500

That is my understanding as well. The receiver is what limits you. The strength is a consideration as well as the possibility of jamming while ejecting the spent case. You will not need 3" shells in any HD situation anyway. Your longest shot will be less than 7 yds. Bird shot will knock a perp...

    Home defense 870 - 5 rounds vs. 7 rounds

I have never seen a Zombie situation resolved with 5 rounds. The more the merrier I always say...balance be damned!!!

    rem 1100 different types ?

Very nice shotguns in any form. Plain barrels vent rib barrels and barrels of various lengths. Magnums are desirable because they will shoot 2 3/4 or 3" shells. What I dont like is they typically do not have screw in chokes. If you wanna change chokes you have to change barrels. Unless you have...

    Convince me on a ccw

Ive been there and wrestled with the same thoughts. I concluded That I will NOT ccw. Here in Va its rather easy to get a permit. A lot of my friends do. Va is also an open carry state. I currently live in a large metro area and am working on some property near the Dismal Swamp to retire to in a...

Looking for opinions on the Mossy 930...

There is a Guide block (for lack of a better term) with two pins on it. Its under the foregrip and slides fore and aft with the action. This part has proven to be problematic. It breaks. Mossburg sent me two when the first one failed the first year. I still have the 2nd one. No problems since.

Any reason to use 3" or 3.5" 12g shells in HD?

I used #1 buck 2 3/4 16 pellets to ventilate my brand new burn barrel lids at 15 yds. You could put on a vest and you aint gettin up anytime soon. I guarantee it. In my home the longest shot is no more than 10 ft. I just cant see magnum loads for HD. When I was a kid our drunk neighbor...

    Bushmaster or smith and wesson

I just read a great comparison thread the other day and you might want to give it a read before buying either one.http://forums.officer.com/showthread.php?t=81462 some didnt like the post but I thought it was very informative for any prospective AR 15 owner. I have a Bushy and a Colt. There is...

    shotgun light rig

I have an 870 Tactical that has a Surefire tac lite that replaces the foregrip. It has an on off switch but also has a pressure sensitive switch that you just squeeze lightly. Its a helluva light. Its not particularly pretty....almost bulky but It does the job. Its a little pricey as well. If...

Would you buy a AK or AR for $3000 ?

Im not sure what all the worry is about. So lets all go out and pay wildly high prices for something they are going to come and get? something we all are going to use in another civil war? I dont think so. I guess its all in where your head is at. I for one am not at all interested in AK's SKS's...

    "panic prices" on SKS's

Ive seen a few with 375 400 price tags but they are selling at those prices. 200 to 225. I bought two at a dept store for 89.00 ea. some years ago. They were chinese junk.

Care and feeding of a sythetic stock

are you a traditionalist or do you like technology?

Wowww....Quite a few things come to mind here. I get the feeling that traditionalists look down their nose at the inline guys. Thats just silly. The majority of your "flintlocks" arent really traditional now are they. They were manufactured with the latest in modern Tech to mass produce a safer...
