What to do with a gutted Mauser

Am I biting off more than I can chew? I acquired (most of) a M1938 Turkish 8mm Mauser for free, everything together except the receiver, which I am sure someone slapped in a synthetic stock and .308 barrel to make a budget rifle. So I do my online digging, the M1938 is a Frankenstein of...

As if it wasnt tacticool enough...

Crossed my mind... But I think big, I'm gonna try to see if the arms room will let me tape a MK-19 to the bottom.

Winchester makes M14 rifles for the Military...

I was confused when I saw the stamp on the receiver of one of my Battery's marksman's M14 EBR, it is in fact Winchester... With a stock on it that probably costs as much if not more than a brand new M1A, with the same function (it isn't select-fire). Exact rifle mentioned is pictured...

As if it wasnt tacticool enough...

...When the U.S. Army issued me my M4 from the Arms room when we deployed. One year on a decent-sized FOB in the south that gets literally no action, an M4 with a K.A. Handgaurd with all those empty rails, and having Tower Guard with a M240B with all the optics to last day & night. Ladies &...

    The Big Guns downrange...

Command Sergeant Major is an E-9 in the enlisted paygrade, which is as high as it goes. The only step after that is Command Sergeant Major of the Army. They usually are in Command of a Batallion, Brigade, Division, Region of Control, Theatre of War, or the entire Army. I had the honor of...

    Pulling guard with Afghan Army

Its a perk of being enlisted. lol. But really, they have this 12.7mm machine gun up in the towers... Chinese definately, has a "54" on the top of the reciever with some chinese letters on it. None of the parts' serial numbers match, and the barrel has cooling rings, and there is a circular...

    Surplus M14s

I dont think the military would let any firearms drop into a surplus market... MAYBE M9's after the bluing is rubbed off and the firing pin is britle as a toothpick. As for M14s, still in use, my Battery uses 3 of them over here in Afghanistan. They are the EBR models made by Springfield and do...

Body armor for the gun range

Armor at the range.... I've only seen that on Army ranges, and thats just regulation uniform consisting of an IBA, Plates, ACH, Knee & Elbow Pads, Eye protection, M4 (or whatever), and yada yada yada. To be honest, its more of a pain in the a**. The various places you will tend to sweat is...

AR15 CQB carbine configurations, wich is "best" ?

What if the CQB situation goes beyond closed quarters... effectively and consistantly hitting a target at 50-75 yards (if the target gets that far) could use a dissipator upper. Not to mention the things look mean... With the xtra handguard length you could mount an Anti-ICBM battery on side. :p

So what rifles are being used in Iraq and Afghanistan?

As far as I know... I'm dumbfounded on the M110 "SASS" but, I'm aware of the SR-25 and M-25 / M-21. I believe the M40A1 is still in use by the USMC. M14, A choice of few... I too have seen these in photos and a correspondant for Military.Com in Iraq wrote an article about his...
