    Granny get your gun...

Other 911 calls are sometimes played on the TV news. Can the police release the tape of any 911 call, or do the people involved have to give their permission, or what?

Man Hurts Himself Trying to Loosen Lug Nut -- With a Shotgun

Man Hurts Himself Trying to Loosen Lug Nut -- With a Shotgun "he wasn't intoxicated," Deputy Wilson said. Somehow I find that hard to believe. Maybe this guy had watched one to many TV shows where they shoot a door lock open?

When they say "you must be trained and tested to get a CCW", should we correct them?

I'm in New Hampshire, which does do a background check, but requires no training and no test of knowledge or skill.

When they say "you must be trained and tested to get a CCW", should we correct them?

I'm in a discussion about CCW on reddit. Several people have posted that getting a carry permit requires training, passing a test etc. (without mentioning a location, thus implying that this is true everywhere). Of course, we know this is not true in all states. My first thought was to...

    Ghost ring sight = lethal?

Not that I'd expect journalists to know that words have meanings. Much less actually look up terms they don't know. Wired.com article about a Taser advertising video So it's scary looking. Isn't that a good thing? Isn't it better to scare someone into compliance than actually shoot...

    Permits for Minors to Carry?

There is no minimum age for a permit in NH, and I remember a story from a few years ago about a 16 year old who carried. If I recall correctly he worked for his family's business handling a lot of cash.

For those who want to stop the "mentally ill" from firearms

NO Looters step up to ambush..........

If I was there I'd be equally worried about being shot in the back by someone who believes that "looters should be shot on sight" and "anyone carrying openly must be a looter". Especially since I'd probably be carrying my AK.

Real SHTF scenario Would you loot if you were stuck in NO with no food or water ?

My (non-christian) religion would require me to. Kin are more important than strangers, and I have a duty to care for me and mine.

Visiting NH and MA. Which interpretation of MA law is correct [see text]?

There are no restrictions on pepper spray in NH. There are no length restrictions on ordinary knives. Daggers, automatic knives, etc. are legal to own but not to carry.

Man Sues Over Right to Get Drunk

hmmm... I wonder what else a person might do that could theoreticly make them 'a danger to themselves or others' and thus get taken into custody?

    Police and towing cars

Well, he may (legally, not morally) have to pay towing - however much it is, although $300 sounds a little high unless that's including storage - even if he's not charged, cuz he's paying the tow company, not the govt. Likewise he (legally, not morally) may have to pay court costs, even...

SAPD Officer Charged With Sexual Assault On Transsexual

Is it really slavery to enslave someone who has a job?

Stand back this is a job for a professional!!

Another sign that we're getting close to the point where anything not compulsory is forbidden.

    Unintended Consequences by John Ross

Actually, many author's first novels are a bit longer than they should be, especially in the 'character's background' parts. (Although I realize that, unlike many novels, the background is an essential part of this one). Normally this is no big deal, but this is a book that many people...

I'll be at the GLBT Pride Festival this weekend...

Unfortunately I can't make it to Boston Pride thus year (or the hempfest either) as I'm just too busy. The Pink Pistols had a great time there a few years ago. We all carried super-soakers (refilled from buckets in the back of my pickup). It was a hot day and the crowd LOVED being "shot"...
