    Scrap Lead For Casting?

Berm picking seems to be getting more popular. This video mentions some of what's already been said here: boat ballasts, WWs, roofing lead, but it also shows some sort of lead containers used to transport radioactive materials for the medical industry...

Primer blowby - 9 mm handloads

Those primers are looking awfully rounded in the picture he posted. My bet would be on using too weak of a loading. CCI SPP have a harder primer cup than FED,REM, and WIN. So take that into consideration and combine it with used brass. The pressure needs to be high enough to expand the primer...

    Reloading 38 Super

Is the chamber of the barrel in your pistol fully supported? That makes a big difference when loading for 38 Super.

Longshot and 9mm, why so difficult?

Not sure about 9x19mm, but with 9x23mm HS-6 works well with 90gr & 115gr, where as Longshot works well with 158gr. Have you tried Longshot with a 147gr bullet?

158 grain Fiocchi 9MM - Better hand loads???

What kind of drop were you getting with those loadings? 124gr@2400fps 7.62x39mm has a drop of about two feet at 300m, I can't imagine that a 9x19mm would be less than that in most cases.

    Choosing powder

Another consideration for powder is how it meters. If you're using it in a progressive press you'll find some powders work better than others.

    CFE Pistol

Xtreme regular plated are for <1200fps so if your caliber does not normally go above that velocity, I do not see why you would need to use lead data.

    X-Treme Bullet Shipping Costs?

http://www.xtremebullets.com/9mm-124-RN-p/xc9mm-124rn-b1000.htm Does not look to be in stock, if you look at the url, the "b1000.htm" is the quantity so "b0500" is for 500 "b1000" for 1000. I tried the b1000 on what I bought and it seemed to be in stock but just went with 2x500 as to not screw...

Returned home w/ more brass than I left with.

Are you using this in a 10mm barrel or a throated 40S&W? What weights of bullets can you use 180gr and 165gr? Seems like a good idea considering you don't have to mess with the more expensive brass or large pistol primers.

    Short barrel powders

I don't have the actual work up data anymore, but it was using Longshot and HS-6 with 100gr .355 projectile in a 38 Super with 4.5" barrel. The loadings seemed quite linear in velocity gain with .2gr increments. At one point the Longshot stopped gaining velocity, i.e. plateaued, HS-6 did not and...

    Short barrel powders

Why is that? I've had powders that would theoretically give the best velocity, but ended up plateauing due to barrel length. A slightly faster powder actually did better. BE is fast compared to Unique, but I can usually go faster than that with even slower powders like HS-6 and Longshot, but...

    Gun belt of choice?

Picked up a carhartt belt about six years ago and it works well although the design of the buckle could be better. The actual belt portion is a leather inner layer and nylon outer layer, works really well.

    Powder identification

This website may have some useful information related to what you're looking for. It doesn't provide proportions, but does list the chemicals used in the powder (check the drop down menu for the powder you're looking for, they have a bunch).

What projectile are you using for .38 super?

I've been trying to use the heaviest bullet available when shooting plated, in this case the .357 158gr Xtreme PFP. They seem to have added a .356 165gr PRN so I'll be ordering that on my next order. Also have used the .357 158gr Hornady XTP and HSM PHP, with similar performance(1100-1200fps)...

    old powder

A few months ago I used up a red/yellow cardboard can of Unique from the early 80's/late 70's. Poured some out on a piece of printer paper and it looked fine, smelled ok too. Didn't notice anything off about it. If the powder you want to buy is like that, it's probably fine.

Some questions about starting to load .40 S&W?

1: I would figure out what loading you want to use and try both. You will probably find that one will cause less spread in the velocity than the other. I have used SP, SM, and SR primers in my loadings and usually one will work better than the others, but you'll have to try and see. 2...

Opinions in Regard to X-treme Plated vs. Heavy Plated Bullets

That might have more to do with the velocity than the bullet. A heavier, slower bullet requires a more aggressive rifling twist rate to stabilize if you don't up the velocity. The heavy plate might work better in your polygonal barrel, but I don't really have much experience with that type of...

    M&P- best 40 bullet weight?

My normal practice loading is a Montana Gold 165gr JHP @ ~1050fps out of a M&P40c. They seem to be accurate enough that I hit what I'm trying to shoot.
