    9mm fmj for HD

Definitely not. My mags right now are loaded with Winchester Supreme Elite bonded JHPs. I've been meaning to pick up some Speer Gold Dots, though.

Shooting in Hollywood - What would you do?

I wasn't there, so I can't say anything for certain. But if I had been the guy in the 4th story window I think I would have taken the shot. If I had been on the ground level, though, that's a much more fuzzy situation that I would have to interpret on-the-fly.

    Home Defense Rig

I use a pair of Howard Leight Impact Sports. I absolutely love them. I've raved about them to all of my shooting buddies, several of which have bought them and loved them as much as I do. Regarding sound direction, it really isn't much of an issue. In the Howard Leight Impact Sports'...

    Unsettling Dream Last Night

This. I highly doubt any burglar (especially one who chose your house because he expected it to be vacant) would return after being repelled with something like "Go away! I have a gun and I will shoot you if you come through that door!"

    Home Defense Rig

Glock 19, spare magazines, light, and one of these guys (U.S. Palm Attack Rack with lvl IIIA inserts): Realistically, I don't know if I would ever actually put the armor on, but I still keep it accessible.

Broke my EDC, Pick a new one for me

For that price range I'd recommend something by CRKT. For a bit more money I'd say that Spyderco makes some tough-to-beat EDC knives, but they run a bit expensive. CRKT makes some good quality knives from good steels within the price range you're looking at.

    How important is a knife?

It can't hurt, right? I have little to no knife combat training, but I'm sure I can do a lot more damage with 4 inches of sharpened steel then I can with my fist. Ex: Rapidly propelling my fist into the chest of an attacker = Pain and maybe a momentary stunning effect. Rapidly propelling...

Remington 870 occasionally refuses to accept full capacity

Sorry for the really late response. I entirely forgot about this thread until I was cleaning my 870 a few hours ago :o I'll check out all of your suggestions tomorrow morning. I'm sure the answer is in one of them. Thanks, everyone! :)

how many rounds have you fired from a pistol grippped shotgun?

I've never fired a pistol gripped shotgun. When I was new(er) to shotguns, I considered converting my standard 870 express to a pistol grip (honestly, it was mainly for the coolness factor :o), but the overwhelming consensus here was "There's no good reason to do that." so I left it stock. I...

Remington 870 occasionally refuses to accept full capacity

Here's my strange story: I had disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled my 870 express (it has a mag tube extension that makes the total capacity 7+1). After assembly, I attempted to load it and found that it would only accept 5 rounds in the tube instead of the usual 7. I took the extension...

    Pro-gun ownership but not pro-NRA?

I've lost any respect for the NRA. They've proven many times that they will compromise our inalienable rights. This excerpt from http://coloradoconservativeproject.blogspot.com/2007/06/nra-sells-out-again.html provides some examples. "Of the major federal gun control legislation that...

Officer attempts to intimidate Open Carry owner and fails

Because he doesn't have to. He's a free citizen, not a servant who must present identification when asked by his master. Exactly.

What is the least useful self-defense advice you have ever heard?

"Load a round of birdshot, then buckshot, then the rest slugs. That way if he keeps walking through the birdshot, you shoot him with the buckshot, and if he keeps walking through that, the slugs will stop him." -Advice given by an ammo salesman at a gunshow

    When would you stop resisting?

When the threat is eliminated or I am dead.

Need advice on every day carry pocket knife

Some ideas: Spyderco Wave Endura 4 (not assisted, but probably faster). Anything from the CRKT M16 series (also not assisted, but that flipper makes opening nearly as fast as an assisted knife). Kershaw Leek/Scallion/Shallot/etc. (I'm pretty sure those are all assisted).

    knife carry california

You'll be fine with any folder as long as it is not a switchblade, gravity knife, etc, and it is not double edged. There is no state length limit; however, L.A. and San Francisco have (I think) a three inch limit. Don't carry any kind of fixed blade. I usually carry a Spyderco Endura and a CRKT...

My EDC is a Spyderco Native plain edge in S30V. What's your's?

My EDC has evolved from a Smith and Wesson Cuttin' Horse, to a Kershaw Leek, to a Kershaw Leek and a CRKT M16 10KZ, to a CRKT M16 10KZ and an Emerson Combat Kerambit. Today it is typically my new Spyderco Endura 4 Wave and my M16 10KZ. The M16 takes the heavy abuse since it's relatively cheap...
