    Dpms 308 ar?

Have one. Good shooter. Accuracy is better then I can shoot it. Trigger is crappy out of the box, but it takes standard AR-15 FCGs, so putting a better trigger into the gun is a snap. It is on the heavier side, but its also chambered in a full power rifle cartridge, so the weight makes the gun...

    Aimpoint PRO Sight Picture

If you need to pop up the rear irons for greater accuracy, that suggest that you have an astigmatism - That is, if you look through the rear peep and the dot appears as a single clean dot instead of a smudge. Recommend going to the optometrist to get some glasses to correct the astigmatism, and...

Any thoughts on 3-gun optics for .300 BLK SBR?

    I think Leatherwood also makes a 1-4x variable that's calibrated for .300blk/7.62x39

    Questions asked by ER Nurse

WALKERs2010: Its part of a standard review of systems that everyone who comes in gets asked. I'm sure they asked you if you had any constipation or any dark tarry stools or bloody stools recently (Checking for GI Bleed) or if you had any skin, hair, or nail changes (Thyroid gland disfunction)...

    Expanding bullet for AK 47

It has to do with the bullet having a reverse-drawn jacket where the base is formed first and it is drawn forward with the lead core then inserted through the front of the bullet. The hollow point is a manufacturer artifact. Also the solid copper base prevents the vaporization of lead from the...

Golden Tiger 7.62x39 FMJBT Gel Test Results

What was the calibration on your blocks? While 4" for the first tumble seems reasonable, I've read that the M67-type bullet (which I make an educated guess is what the GT ammo is loaded with) start to tumble at 2" mark or even earlier. I'm just wondering if its a gel induced variable or normal...

    Why are red dots red?

Always assumed its because red diodes and lasers use the least power out of the spectrum, thus giving these weapon sights the longest possible battery life.

    Best Caliber For...

How about a Serbu Shorty shotgun? Its a bit bigger then a handgun, light, can handle bird shot to get food (squirrels and rabbits) and buck shot and slugs for social situations or bagging a bigger quarry (deer). Plus, if its a real WROL/SHTF I think you'll be spending more time avoiding getting...

    AR15 home defense ammo

I run 62gr HPs in my AR. They are the FBI rounds that were surplused a while back. While in gel tests penetration was on the lower end, the expansion was fairly large. This is my first-line choice. If I need more then 30 rounds, the next 6 mags are 64gr SPs and 75gr OTMs.

Better general purpose battle rifle than HK91

Well, easy way to keep the AR-15 running in a SHTF scenario is keep a quart of V-twin oil on hand to keep it lubed up and running well. Versus a motorcycle or a car engine, a rifle is a very very mild system. You can always salvage some motor oil during a SHTF scenario.

Better general purpose battle rifle than HK91

If you're set on a .308, how about a FAL? There's good reason that it was adopted by 90+ countries. It also made quite a name for itself during the Rhodesian conflicts. While its not the most accurate or lightest rifle around, it's more than accurate enough for social work to 500 yards or more...

    Wheel Rifles?

Seems revolver designs have found a home in vehicle mounted weapons because they allow for a faster rate of fire then a single-chamber design. Why? Because they allow both loading and extracting a spent round at the same time. In addition versus a gattling-gun type cannon they are lighter (1...

AR15 Optic Setup - This Back and Forth Must Stop!

Really, I would say at across the living room distances (with the assumption you live in a sub-5,000 sq foot home) point shooting your AR like a shotgun will be just as effective as careful aiming. In my view, the best aiming system that you can get for your AR is a few thousand rounds of...

Need advice for a true 1X-? scope

Also, since most 1-4x scopes have a diopter adjustment, its possible to set it to 1x, and fiddle with the diopter until it is a true 1.0x scope. Truth be told, you'll be hard-pressed to tell the difference between a 0.9x-1.1x magnification range vs true 1x unless you look at a ruler. That's been...

    scope mount for a kalshnikov

If a scope can be shaken apart internally on a .308 veper, chances are much better then not that it would be shaken apart on ANY .308 rifle. Junk is junk no matter what rifle its bolted onto. Wardenwolf: Readjusting the turrets is not necessary to either zero or use the PSOP scopes. I guess if...

    Ammo sources for Syrian rebels?

Not to mention diverting quite a good bit of Russian ammo through shell companies to the rebels as well. If there's a need and money, the void can be easily filled.

Need advice for a true 1X-? scope

Question #1 that hasn't been asked is what's your budget? A S&B Short Dot or a Leupold 1-8x are both awesome piece of optical technology. The major downside, is that they often cost about 2-3x as much as the rifle they are mounted on. If you're not looking to drop $2-4k on an optic, the...

Are these Russian mil-surp optics any good?

Check out TX-Zen's website to get some good write-ups of all these optic choices: http://russianoptics.net/index.html I have the PSOP 4x scope. Its a tough scope and the optical clarity is good. Is it a $2,000 Schmidt & Bender? No. But, for a $200 scope, I find it stacks up nicely to the...

Larue OBR vs LRB M25 (precision M14 build)

Can't go wrong with the OBR, but if you're already that heavily invested in the M14, there's certain sense of sticking with that platform.

Aren't we forgetting something about Illinois?

Incrementalism. When CCW was legalized in Tennessee each individual firearm that you wanted to carry had to be registered with the local sheriff. No such issues exist now. Likewise, many states have started doing away with permit and licensure requirement. Don't expect Illinois to go from no ccw...
