    .300winmag, .300H&H, etc to .300Weatherby conversion?

I picked up a KS 700 Custom Shop in 300Weatherby (circa 90's) last year. Watch gunbroker and such and they pop up pretty regularly.

Just bought a new tikka t3

I don't own the Nikon, so I didn't comment on it. I have a 3-9x40 conquest, and I have quite a few Tikkas. There are many scopes lighter and shorter than the conquest.

Just bought a new tikka t3

The conquest, while very nice, is also pretty large and heavy. Not the best match to a tikka.

Just bought a new tikka t3

Tikkas usually aren't that picky about ammo.

    First pig hunt caliber/rifle suggestions

That's less than .308 ballistics there; if you load down that far, the difference between that and 30-30 is pretty much moot.

    Fantastic story. Thank you.

    First rifle, Tikka T3 lite - 7mm-08 or 270?

I have a number of Tikkas, and the .270 has more felt recoil than my '06 (both T3 lites). Don't ask me why. The Tikka in .270 will get your attention on the bench. Non-issue in field positions. But if it causes you to develop a flinch, get something smaller (7mm08, 6.5x55 243).

Help me pick a woods gun, please.

If you're trying for light-weight, with your stated goals, try to track down a s&w 360 3" kit gun. 12 oz, adjustable sights.

358 Winchester vs. 338 Winchester Magnum

338 is the flatter of the two, and would be my pick for your stated purposes.

Increased penetration in the olden days of nothing but cup and core bullets.

Help me choose a scope for my new Tikka!

Bushnell Elite 4200, 3-9x40 http://www.amazon.com/Bushnell-Elite-4200-3-9x40mm-Riflescope/dp/B000NJ0BUM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1312562251&sr=8-1 Clearer than my Leupolds, plus rain guard. Eye relief is the only minor issue, but this is what I use all on my non-magnums. Both magnums have Zeiss's.

    What Gun For Black Bear

I'd use the M7 .260, but any of the three will work great.

    .30-30 Bolt Action?

    Reduced recoil '06 loads, perhaps?

    30-06 loads for Elk

At 100 yards, anything will work. I'd use any weight of TSX, myself, including 130 or 150, at that range.

Who's right - me or the wife?

This thread boggles my mind. Kids that age have poor impulse control, regardless of prior discipline. And there's more than one way to rack a slide; add a little mechanical advantage with a table edge... Lock it up.

Is it okay to store guns in a hot garage?

If you're worried, a decent split system HVAC like a hotel room uses costs less than a really nice gun.

    308 Bullet for Elk

A 150 TSX should work just fine, and shoot the same as your existing deer loads.
