    Buckmark blew up

As far as I'm concerned, your test was a total waste of time. I already knew what your test proved. I went through this years ago when I argued to a group of buddies that is was pefectly safe to shoot at ammo. I do not mean that I shot ammo. I mean that we were shooting AT ammo. We set live...

How does one REDUCE the capacity of a magazine?

THe only time I've ever heard of magazines being blocked legally was with shotgun tubular magazines for hunters. Not saying your idea ain't legal. Just sayin I never heard of it being legal.

Loosening the strain screw on a S&W Model 22?

You should do that thread. I wasnt' aware of that tendency of S&W but I'm not surprised. That was normal in the first half of the 20th century. and normal in the more successful companies up through the jimmy carter era and a little beyond. Maybe they weren't successfull because of their...

What knife (metal ) that holds it sharpness

Militaries have gone more towards daggers and stilettos, imo. There's no more call for bayonets and bowie type knives. The KA-BAR was a rambo version of the bowie knife. More or less. It was a bowie with a grip like a estwing hammer/hatchet or a case brand bowie-ish knife. you should look...

Loosening the strain screw on a S&W Model 22?

Sure. that would go right along with a superior glossy bluing job. But there's no reason to believe that a bluing job or the sides of the hammer and trigger should improve function tremendously. There's no doubt that humans with more sensitive fingertips and eyeballs and greater workmanship...

Loosening the strain screw on a S&W Model 22?

Ya. My experience too. I think they've been worked over though. The odds that a barely shot 80 year old revolver is as untouched as a barely shot 2 year old revolver is not quite the same odds. But I do believe the older stuff is better quality fit and finish. THat much is obvious.

    Buckmark blew up

A "squib" load will send the bullet down the barrel a ways. In a pistol, it will usually get all the way out of the barrel(for 22 rimfire). These rounds are designed for rifles, REMEMBER? Even in a rifle, where the bullet becomes lodged in the barrel a foot down from the breech, you are not...

What knife (metal ) that holds it sharpness

Big bill, no prob. My pleasure. I work in the boiler industry(small to medium scale industrial) and rust is something I deal with constantly. Before that I was in the pre-stressed concrete industry and rust was a primary threat there too. If anyone wants to do some research on rust, the US...

Suggestions for a new revolver...read for criteria (please!)

When you say classic looks and scandium out...does that mean you would also object to a stainless gun? Does it have to be blued?

price on smith and wesson Model 59

Normally I'd say that's way high. But in this market, I have no idea. Anything goes right now, seems to be going rate. Prices are up up and away.

    Never Fired?

Never been fired EVER? Or never been fired by me? I own ONE firearm that has never been fired by me. And that's simply because it's an ancient wallhanger that ain't safe to shoot. If I ever bought a gun that had never been fired EVER, and I wanted it to stay that way...I'd have to sell it to...

    Pocket Pistol for Concealed Carry

I have a kahr PM9. It's pretty nice little pocket gun. I really want something smaller and lighter. Probably go with a keltec 32 caliber. Some day, that is. When prices come down and guns are easier to find. Right now the market is insane.

    Buckmark blew up

Oh come on! What are the odds of a double charge following directly after a squib load?? In 22 rimfire no less! I'm not buying that. Not even a little.

What knife (metal ) that holds it sharpness

Yo crittergitter, what would you say this knife is made of? http://www.osograndeknives.com/Kershaw/kershaw_-_military_knife,_kydex_sheath.htm Here's another link that describes the steel, but it doesn't seem to match up to anything on your list...

    Carrying extra magazines

Murphy a wuss?? If you are that confident, then you don't need a gun do you? OR at the very most, a single shot derringer with no spare shells.

    Taking out a beef steer

My great uncle(dead ten years now, at least) claimed in the old days he killed hogs by hanging them up by the hind feet and sticking an ice pick in the neck vein. The hog would thrash and scream and the more it did, the faster it bled. I never did ask him how he got a live hog hung up there by...

What knife (metal ) that holds it sharpness

Patina IS RUST! There are two kinds of rust(basically, simplistically). Red rust, and black rust. ONe occurs in the presence of an oxygen surplus. The other occurs in the presence of limited oxygen. Black rust does a semi-adequate job of sealing out the oxygen...especially if coated with...

What knife (metal ) that holds it sharpness

Seems to me ease of sharpening is more important than how long between sharpenings.
