    Sig P6 question...

Hi Hank, My sincere apologies - I thought you were referring to the thread itself. Consider me suitably embarrassed and admonished. Best wishes.

    Sig P6 question...

Thanks Hank - that's really helpful (not!). If people can't post something to help then don't post at all. For those who are interested I have since found out why the paint has been applied. It appears that this was applied to pistols that had been taken out of service due to a failure...

    Sig P6 question...

Pics attached. First is the one I have, the second another example from the interweb. No importer mark as I'm in Europe. I've cleaned the paint off the metal areas which was a dab here and there. There was a bit of blue by the front sight. I don't think the location of the paint on these...

    Sig P6 question...

As you know there have been a load of ex-German Police P6's dumped onto the market over the last few years. I bought one a little while ago and was wondering why some had their grips and apparently other pistol parts painted red and/or blue. Any ideas? This was clearly done at source (in...

Anti gun consequences of Paris attack

Thanks for the PDF link Vaupet. Interesting to read. It is important to recognise that the vast majority of firearms held legally in the EU do not present any danger to the public. As Barnbwt says, a remarkable but nonetheless appreciated comment from an UK MEP. Mind you, if she had said...

Anti gun consequences of Paris attack

I am not sure where you came up with the idea that this proposal should come into force on 8 April. This version has been struck down both in the European Council and in the respective Committees of the European Parliament. I need to correct myself - it refers to deactivated weapons and does...

Anti gun consequences of Paris attack

Thanks for correcting me Snejdarek. I rechecked my source and it was outdated. Good to know the 'first draft' was chucked out. Good for them.

Anti gun consequences of Paris attack

Howdo all, Thought I'd add some links providing the facts on this sick turn of events in Europe. This is the proposal that is to come into force on the 8th April. Click on the PDF on the right hand side...

Is it possible to convert a Yugo M76 (8x57IS) to 6.5mm Swedish?

Thanks Justin, Yes, absolutely. I'll be borrowing some to see if they do go as going with the 6.5x55mm will give me more bullet choice but at least I know I'll have the 6.5x57mm to fall back on if all fails. ;)

Is it possible to convert a Yugo M76 (8x57IS) to 6.5mm Swedish?

Howdo all, Thanks for all your input and time - it has been very much appreciated. :) Did a bit more research and I had clearly overlooked the obvious - the 6.5x57mm Mauser - a necked down 8x57/7x57mm. Therefore, all that would be needed is a barrel change. It would have the same...

Is it possible to convert a Yugo M76 (8x57IS) to 6.5mm Swedish?

Thanks everyone! THR at its best. I'm beginning to think of looking around for a ratty(ish) M76 to see what can feasibly be done now - more as an experiment to satisfy my curiosity. It won't be for a while but I'll pass on any information that results from it (positive or negative). In the...

Is it possible to convert a Yugo M76 (8x57IS) to 6.5mm Swedish?

Hi all, Thanks for the replies - very interesting and differing views and all appreciated. In answer to those who think I might be considering an actual conversion - don't get me wrong ;). Although I'm also a machinist and have made gun parts, including an 18" barrel (which actually worked...

Is it possible to convert a Yugo M76 (8x57IS) to 6.5mm Swedish?

Howdo all, I'll put this one out there, more for academic discussion than anything else. I have a Yugo M76, a nice semi-auto 'sniper' rifle, for informal target shooting. As many of you know it fires the 8mm Mauser (8x57mm IS). While this is a good round I've always liked the 6.5x55mm Swedish...

Mikhail Kalashnikov, has died aged 94

We'll raise a glass of Vodka to him. The AK was invented for all the right reasons. All the best Mikhail wherever you are! ...perhaps chin-wagging with Edward Ezell.

    Are SIG aluminium frames weldable?

Thanks everyone for their input - and sorry for posting the thread in the wrong section. The damage to the trigger guard was quite severe - bottom fore-end snapped and bent upwards and no doubt there will be some stress fracturing in there somewhere. Don't ask how it happened as it was on lone...

    Are SIG aluminium frames weldable?

That's a good point. I'll hunt around. Yep, I know the ones you mean. I have a load of Durafix aluminium welding rods which will do the job but it means using a gas source to melt the rod and it's a lot less precise (read messier) than a TIG weld. However, if it's my only alternative then so...

    CZ 75B vs. Sig P226

I use the CZ75B and the early version of the SIG P226 (and P228). Both are as accurate, and utterly reliable as one another. Trigger pull weight is greater in the SIG and there is two phase pressure in DA mode due to the pull design but the hammer then snaps immediately. Trigger on CZ smoother...

    Are SIG aluminium frames weldable?

Thanks for your replies. Nah, not a stress part thankfully. I'm also a pro' TIG welder and have worked on pistols/rifles with no issue and produce stunning results (yep, I'm that good [he says humbly]). I won't have an issue with the trigger guard but I need to know if this is the type of...

    Are SIG aluminium frames weldable?

Howdo all, I've tried contacting SIG (US and Germany) but am having trouble so hence this post. I have a 1997 SIG P228 which has had damage to the trigger guard. I aim to TIG weld it but sadly the aluminium is propriety and therefore I have no idea if the aluminium alloy is the type that is...
