Looking to see if anyone in here has one of these.I'm starting out with round balls to get used to it and may try deer hunting with them.Wondering what a good load may be and how accuracy is with the round ball.I tried load of 60FFG in it and ball went thru 1/2 plywood like nothing at around 40 yds.

Another note on store bought savage combos,all the ones we carried where I work were scope onle,NO iron sight,thats why I stayed away from them,bang scope in woods and out of luck,no iron to fall back on.

I like the 700.Had a nice one but had to give it up,now have savage 308 lever.Took 1100 pound moose at 135 yds with 1 shot 240 gr with the 700.

How can I find what twist I have? What wopuld be good amount of powder to start with?

I have aimpoint 2000 on my blackhawk with 10 1/2" barrel.Only prob is holding steady as gun is so heave.Other then that held up for 12 yrs before had a prod,and think it has to do with battery connectios worn out.

Only marking on rifle other then reg Thompson Center is on top,Fox Ridge Outfitters,That is the store he got it at in New Hampshire,they are Thompson Center stope I believe.
