    With all due respect to .38 Special (Post #5) All quality pistol shooting starts with the grip. The rest goes from there. Now, I agree that the OP has more problems than just grip. But without proper grip one goes nowhere - that's why competition shooters place the pistol into the shooting...

    While the Rugers and Brownings are nice pistols give the Smith & Wesson Model 41 a hard look. More expensive but a lot more gun.
