I need to get my carry permit or the I'm tried of being followed thread

Rationalize the situation? I basically described in my post that what the OP considered suspicious and menacing are things I may have the tendency to do in a parking lot. I'm no bad guy, if I stop to look around a parking lot it doesn't mean I'm looking to mug someone; it simply means I'm...

I need to get my carry permit or the I'm tried of being followed thread

I'm all for being aware of your surroundings, but isn't there the chance your just overreacting/ thinking the worst of an otherwise harmless situation. Sometimes I forget where my car is in the parking lot (was it this row or another)....meaning I stop to look around and try to remember what...

Traveling to Chicago - law changes?

Don't get me wrong, but for the most part downtown Chicago is safe from violent crime; most of the stories and crimes that give the city a bad rap happen way down there on the southside (which is a city of it's own.) Personally I feel safer downtown (River North, Loop) then I do out in the...

Traveling to Chicago - law changes?

To be perfectly honest, if your visiting Chicago for a wedding I assume your probably staying downtown and the all the festivities will probably be in the Loop or right nearby; thus I wouldn't even break a sweat (or bring a gun.) Enjoy the wedding, the sites, and have a good time. Lots of things...

    Repairmen in your home: advice?

Just throw a sheet over everything you want to keep private and don't give it a second thought. I doubt the repair man will even think twice about it, as he's probably got ten more places to visit after yours and just wants to get the job done as quickly as possible.

    A knife safety anecdote

Wait, what? Sounds to me like this isn't the whole story, but one of those exaggerated tales where you catch a minnow and after telling the story a few times the minnow becomes a prize-winner.

Where are my Illinois natives at?

Actually Chicago was recently challenged in the courts about their law regarding gun ranges and gun stores in city limits. And the law is technically already changed allowing gun ranges in city limits......unfortunately the list of restrictions and code issues (cant be within a certain distance...

Where are my Illinois natives at?

Live in Cook County, but not Chicago thankfully. As for shooting I do it all far up north in Wisconsin on 'private land' (think Green Bay north), don't get out there often but I like being able to shoot outdoors without any silly range restrictions or rules. As for shooting indoors I don't...

Chicago Ban on Gun Sales Within City Struck Down by Judge

No matter what the law says, the city will make it impossible to open a store. I see it now, no store within 5 miles of a school, park, or church. No gun stores in residentially zoned districts. No gun store within 5 miles of where alcohol is served or sold.

Chicago Ban on Gun Sales Within City Struck Down by Judge

So very true unfortunately. For example the laws on gun ranges were recently challenged and changed in the city making it 'legal' to open a gun range in city limits. Too bad the list of requirements and regulations make it for the most part impossible to open one, let alone make it profitable...

    carrying at your local shop

It has everything to do with insurance/liability issues, read post #40. Not some conspiracy theory that gun store owners are against the people that actually support their business.

Classic Firearms has lost me as a customer

No offense, but why did you waste three hours trying to get on the website? If it doesn't work, move on and try accessing the site later that day. No need to create a rant thread and waste my time as well.

    carrying at your local shop

I'm sure its due to business liability/insurance issues, rather then 'elitist behavior.'

New IL CCW Law - Chicago PD Directive

Yikes, that's a little harsh. Chicago might have it's problems but it's not that bad speaking from first hand experience. Considering Illinois had no type of carry just a year ago and no prospects of getting a law on the books, the situation now is a borderline miracle and all in all nothing to...

Cook County, IL Passes New Gun Law

Well in Illinois you have to have FOID before you can own any gun, but it does nothing as registration as anyone can apply whether you plan on owning a gun or not. However Chicago does make it's prisoners (or citizens) register handguns with the police(not rifles). So Chicago does know what...

    Whip

This guy is a troll plain and simple. Evidenced by the fact he stated, "The more I think about it though, the more I like the idea of her bringing the whip." A whip seriously? Either your not thinking straight or you're a troll.

    Carry At Work?

I'm more amazed by the fact you weren't fired....if he's your VP he has the power to fire you(no matter the reason.)

Never used them, and yet I don't find it suprising either.

    Think outside the box.

Capitalism......businesses can fail due to mismanagement or lack of funds, owners die and the business closes up shop, owner realizes he doesn't want to be in the business, owner retires, a bigger chain store comes to town and shuts down the small store. The list goes on and on why businesses...
