Which FFL is required to manufacture BS?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't a 454 operate at pressures and velocities above those optimal for non-GC lead bullets? Sounds like the OP is intent on lead, which I think is great, just trying to save him some possible frustration down the road.

That is .7 grains, or almost 25% over the max load as recommended by Hodgdon. If you feel comfortable loading it, by all means go ahead, but I would not recommend that to someone looking for a first load.

Well it's not exactly "immediate". It's got about 1k rounds down the tube since I got it, most of which I loaded myself. No clue as to how many it had before that, since the guy who originally owned it is no longer with us. I don't think a barrel made and installed by S&W is very tacticool...

If that's the case, it would definitely be better to just buy another in a different barrel size. I just hadn't been looking since I already had the 6" one. I can definitely see your point about having a good range gun. It is fun, low recoil, low muzzle flip, and certainly more accurate than I am.

I like your style. A little powder residue never hurt anyone. I guess this is where you start to see who reloads to shoot and who shoots to reload. At least for handgun loads. Rifle is a different animal.
