Well, she went to the range with me today. I am torn between the desire to pass it on some day and the desire to be buried with it.
Everyone was amazed at how well it fits the hand, and the clean, even sexy lines. It points so naturally! One can spend hundreds of dollars to have a modern gun "melted"; perhaps this the gun that inspires them.
I put 50 rounds of ball and about 80 of SJHP, and it was flawless--I could not get it to jam. With the grip safety it's impossible to limpwrist it. I'll have to try some widemouth HPs to see what happens.
It took me a while to find the Point of Aim. It's at 50 feet, and I still have to aim a little left.
I know the 1911 and Hi-Power will always be J.M. Browning's most popular handguns, but the 1903 is his most beautiful--a near-perfect blend of form and function. Simple, elegant, and effective.
I can't wait to go to the range again.
