1911 Competition Holster?

    I recently read about a group meet up at Round Rock Texas area for a fun time friendly shooting. But their requirement is you must have two mags and a holster. They have also mentioned shooting competitions. Anyways, I have never been to one of these and I am wondering if anyone know what I am talking about.

    I plan to take my 1911 with me but I do not have a holster. I am running on low budget at this time and was thinking about getting a real cheap holster. Anyone have a suggestion? Maybe a Uncle Mike would do?

    If it is an IDPA or similar match you may need 3 magazines and 2 magazine pouches, to complete each stage. To sum up, strong side holster, 2 mag pouches, 3 magazines, 100-150 rounds of ammo and a big a** smile. Have fun, shoot safe.

    There is some advantage to just going and watching your pals shoot the match the first time. You can observe what the folks are doing, and what they are using for equipment. Ask a bunch of questions. Then order what you want based on more knowledge and be better prepared for the next match.

    Brownells and Top Gun Supply both carry Blade-tech and usually will ship much faster than ordering direct from Blade=tech.

    Top Gun Supply

    Comp=tac is another good source

    This is a really nice setup.
    A close friend purchased this exact rig for his M&P 9mm. If I didn't already have a nice kydex setup I would have purchased one of these "kits" too.

    I know that you said you're pinching pennies but I would save for just a little bit longer to get a good quality setup. Especially when dealing with holsters.

    I am not sure what kind of competition it is. It's 4 hours drive from Houston, so I want to jump in a shoot. They said at least 2 mags but prefer 3-4... my gun only came with 1, so I need to go buy one more.

    As far as holster, the local academy mostly sells uncle mike holsters. I don't want to order online because it might take a while and I need it this Saturday.

    Can someone tell me more about IDPA?
