1911 love

There's something about a 1911 I just don't feel with any other handgun. I respect those who swear by their Glocks, XDs, etc, but for those who still would choose a 1911, what about it do you love the most? For me it's the smooth trigger and the feel of a frame balanced just right.

i voted for the way it feels in your hand.... but i have to say i couldve voted for any of the reasons... they are all reasons i carry a 1911. in addition the safety features

Their ergos, pointability, and balance are unrivalled in the firearms world, to me; this is why, rather than stick with a separate .22 pistol, I decided to plop the moneys on a .22 conversion for my 1911 instead.

But the business end of a 1911 is probably one of the most universally recognized "it's bad to be here" signs in the firearm world, and one of the most readily recognizable, it seems.

it's a time-tested and proven design. no other gun feels so good in the hand. It's a beautiful gun, even in a plain jane configuration. It balances very well. Aftermarket products. It's all steel. It's hard for me to find fault in the 1911. It's practical, functional, beautiful, durable, reliable, and very classy. What's not to like about it?

For a while, I didn't care for them. Particularly because the one's that I owned we're all hype and no delivery(performance). They have a certain look though. It's like for us guys that like a certain type of woman. I donno, some like big chests, some like legs, etc. You get the idea. The 1911 simply has something special about it. Awesome design.

I like my 1911's to be "double-stacked" aka PARA-ORDNANCE. With a S/A trigger, but the Para LDA trigger is starting to grow on me.

Love the 1911 ?

With the smooth light trigger , tighter fit of barrel ,slide and grip frame, the 1911 wins the award as far as I can tell. The prices of the new STI Spartan , RIA , Taurus 1911 and others has pretty much made them as competitive as the Polymer Guns. If you need more rounds ,buy a mag or two extra. Also the 1911 is flat and smooth and easy to conceal.

What's not to like about 1911 clones?

This caliber will crush infiltration by EVIL foreign adversaries into the U.S. Any lesser caliber may do well behind the trigger of a true marksman. .45 ACP is not a toy caliber such as a .380 Auto. Get to the RANGE often and PRACTICE, since there exists no substitute for life's preservation when required. cliffy

JZ06 said it was a lot like a woman and I like that description.It has been around for a long,long time,and is just as desirable today as it was to our grandfathers.I love my Glock-19,but I don't think there are gonna be a lot of folks nearly a hundred years from now saying "boy I'd sure like to have me one of them Glocks like they used to make".I'd bet there will still folks around in 2095 who would say "boy I'd like to have one of them Colt 45's like they used to make"There are ones that are engraved and wearing Ivory grips that are in beatifully tooled leather holsters on the hips of folks at barbeques like the one I saw in Azle Texas,and there are ones with dull finishes and micarta grips riding in kydex holsters in places where America sends her very best.It is as American as Moms,apple pies,and the Stars and Stripes.Those are a few of things I feel when I hold a 1911 in my hand.I've let folks I had just met shoot my Glock,but it ain't just anyone I would hand my 1977 Colt Combat Commander to.I reckon if it was a girl it would be the kind you take home to meet momma.

It's my main carry because of it's thinness. It has more potent bullets than my Sig P229, but I feel it less when I carry it. It's a genius design!

The world fears and loves the American 1911. I have a friend who is an officer in SP Brazil. He said that every guy on the force would give a kidney for a Kimber. The caliber, functionality, and balance, It isn't going anywhere. And after the next ban, (god forbid) their popularity will rage again.
