I still cannot get the search to work so I'll ask............

What is your favorite load for the 230 JHP .45 ACP w/5"bbl.?

    6.0 grains Unique.

6.5 grains if I'm feeling frisky & inadequate!

rcmodel, have you chronoed that 6.0 of Unique? I tried that and that load felt very hot in my 5" Kimber. It does have a weak spring though.

5.6gr of WW231. Gives around 810-840fps out of most 5" barrels and is clean-burning and easy to shoot.

6.8 to 7.0 gr of Power Pistol gives around 850-880fps out of most 5" barrels. Also clean burning, definitely not too hot, but has some muzzle-flash, if that matters.

No, but it has been one well known "Factory Duplication" GI hardball load for at least 50 or more years.

My best for 230gr JHP (XTPs and Golden Sabers) are:

    8.5gr AA#5
    4.8gr Red Dot

These have an OAL of 1.245"
