I brought this up many moons ago on TFL but what the heck why not give it another try? ;) Okay, with all the .308 scout rifles and handy carbines floating around these days wouldn`t it be cool if there was a simple wildcat that would make a relatively cheap bigbore brush gun out of them? You can make .45 Win mag. or .44 AMP out of .308 cases, why not a full length or near full length bigbore for carbines? Even a .406/.308 or something like that so it could retain a bottleneck? What do you guys think, wouldn`t a big bore Enfield Jungle Carbine with 10/12rd. mags be cool?! Marcus

There is the .358 Winchester which is the .308 necked up. This is a factory round (or was.) Maybe some of the hot, wildcat Thompson Contender cartridges might lend themselves to this.

There are .338 and .375 wildcats on .308 brass.
The .400 Whelen was not successful, partly because it did not have enough shoulder to hold headspace.
