.44 Magnum Snub Nose??

The grips on the Horton 29s were different than K-frame.

There were some gunsmiths at the time that were doing custom roundbutting and those were K-frame size since no one was making round butt N-frame grips yet.

It's a good thing I liked the smooth wood grips on mine because, at that time, I couldn't find anything to replave them with except Pachmayr square butt ones.

I have the same gun with the same stocks as Tamara only mine isn't ported. It came with an absolutely beautiful El Paso Saddlery holster that attracted me as much as the gun.
I carried it earlier this year on a fly fishing trip loaded with absolute max loaded 240 grain LBT bullets.

One problem with mine, the barrel isn't screwed in straight. I have the rear sight moved all the way over to achieve zero. But of course it doesn't matter since it is zeroed.

Here's my S&W 629 with 3" barrel and unfluted cylinder. It is quite a handful to shoot with full power magnums, but the rubber grips help a lot.
It's very loud and very fun to shoot! :D

S&W 629 3"

Interesting, but I couldn't imagine carrying one. A titanium .41 mag snub with 210gr. loads is the loudest gun I've EVER fired. Funny it's the first "centerfire" revolver I'd ever fired as well. What a way to start out handgun shooting! Worst recoil and loudest noise possible! Guess I'm a masochist! LoL.

I know... you want a snubby. While 4" is definitely longer than your stated range, please consider this. I just have to suggest a 629 Mountain Gun for your perusal. Definitely capable of any commercial .44M loads, mine sees only a maximum of warmer .44 Special loads, although they are loaded in .44M cases. Great looker with wood grips - and comfortable, too. Keep those Hogue monogrips handy, should you want real .44M loads. Yeah, and if you want one at 2/3 the weight of my SS 629MG, there is always the new 329...

I find this 629-4 fun to shoot with the wood grips. A full box of 240 GR mags is not at all painful.

And it looks cool, too :D

These are really tough looking guns. I definately will have to make a 3inch S&W 29/629 my next gun.

What is the velocity/energy loss when going down from a 4 inch to a 3 inch in 44 mag.
