My buddy just bought his first gun, and it's a Glock 37 in .45 GAP. The reason he bought it was because he liked my glock so much and it was a deal he couldn't pass up (brand new in box for $370). I know that the G37 has the same size frame as the 17/22/31 etc. and gave him my spare G22 barrel so he can build an upper in .40 S&W and he can shoot ammo that's more common in his area, as he has to drive almost 3 hours to get .45 GAP when he can't get it online.
Well, he came over last weekend and I was telling him about swapping slides and whatnot to switch calibers, and took apart his G37 and my G22 and put his slide on my frame and inserted a loaded .45 mag to function check it and it worked fine (mind you I never fired it that way). But when we tried to put my slide assembly on his frame it wouldn't fit, and I noticed the extractor on my frame is straight, and the one on his is bent semi-circularly which disallowed my slide to go on his frame.
What I am wondering is if he still bought the slide assembly to make a .40 cal slide conversion, are straight extractors (rear trigger assemblies) readily available, and would that allow him to use a conversion slide assembly in a different caliber? From what I can tell that was the only difference in the frames.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
