    whats yalls opinion of .45 caliber rifles????

    I would only be hunting deer with my ML

    There are quite a few guys around my part that swears by their .45 cal Rifles, they are pretty flat shooting as well.

    Nothing wrong with a 45 for deer hunting ..Thats all a friend of mine uses ..his patch ball loads pass through a deer with no problem ..I like the 50 and 54 cal myself for hunting ..because the heavyer ball packs a little more punch at greater distance .

    Some of the really serious competition rifles back in the day were 40 or 45, using conicals. Gibbs is a good example. And of course with the right conical and 70 to 110 grains of black, you'd be duplicating the performance of the excellent big game cartridges of yore: .45/70 to .45/110.

    I've been wanting to try a nice .45. Let us know how it does for you.

    Same here i agreee. My dream rifle would be a sharps 45-110
