.45ACP, 5" Single Stack Glock "1911 Killer"

Do you think that a 5" barreled, single stack .45 Glock would be a good seller? I believe so- the double stack 21 is way too thick, and even the new .45GAP on the 17/22 frame is on the large side. I don't think Glock would go for it though, it might hurt their sales of Glock 37s.

Enthusiasts thought for years that the G37 was going to be a full-size single stack .45 ACP.

I do not see it happening in the near future. G37 GAPs seem to be selling well enough for something that was probably cheap to tool up for and easy to schmooze the ammo companies into feeding; and the G38 is likely to be a compact GAP.

Given the propensity of .45 acp Glocks to break or blow up (due to ruptured cases unsupposed on the underneath feedramp area as the base of the case), I can't see a single stack Glock coming close to being a real competitor with the 1911 for the .45 acp round.

It is a limited sample that I have, but .45 acp Glocks do not seem to show the reliability or durability of the original Glocks in 9 mm.

Well, I think the real world limitation of a single stack Glock is this - Folks that want as thin and as small of a Glock as possible in 45 caliber have the G36... Those folks probably don't care much about a longer barrel as that defeats the purpose of the smallest Glock. On the other hand, folks that want a 45 caliber Glock that is service sized, have the G37 (or the G21 folks with Frankenstein-sized hands ).

In an ideal world, there would single stack and double stack guns in 9mm, 40, 357SIG, 10mm and 45ACP in small medium and large... But Glock has to estimate a market or create a market for the guns to sell.

Nope Nelson, I still know that JMB genius created the "one true 9mm", and the "one true .45". . No Yurupian wunderpistole can take that title.

I'd like one, but I think most folks forget when you make a grip as thin as a 1911 and have it on a super light polymer frame, your going to have a pistol that flips and produces far more real and felt recoil than a real steel 1911 (or even lightweight aluminum model).

So really your going to invent a 7-8 shot single stack 45 ACP, that maybe carries a tad easier but thats not really competitive in splits or comfort area of shooting...
