8lb. KEG of H335

After buying yet another individual pound of H335 for $20.05, I think I'm ready to buy a keg at Powder Valley for only $15/pound.

Any one know if they give a discount for FFL holders? as I have a buddy who could hook me up.

Any Seacoast NH, ME guys out there interested in going in on one?

I've been very happy with my .223 Rem loads and if I can get a keg will switch over from W748 for my .30-30 as well.

Any one out there ever tried it on 7.62x39? as I see Hodgdon publishes H335 loads for 125 gr. and 150 gr. .311 bullets.

I've got a pound of H335 that never got used, my son didn't want to mess with the hazmat fees to ship live ammo of me reloading .223 for him. He lives in Virginia.

I also have about 2 pounds of W748 ball powder.

As I don't reload rifles, its just going to waste...about 3 years old and has been kept in doors in a cool dry place.

There are no fees on shipping ammo,I've never paid any just powder and primers as far as I know.

Huh? The poster was asking about powder for reloading and there is definitely a Haz. Mat. fee on both powder and primers. You are correct in saying that there is not a fee for shipping ammo but that wasn't at all what he was asking.

It's good to get several reloaders together to ship lots of powder &/or primers because it can be a great money saver....... but only if you order at or near the weight limit (60 lbs (?) including jugs, box & packing mat'l.). That usually is (6) 8lbs jugs of powder and the fee is $20 + S&H.

Thanks Minnmooney, guess I didn't explain myself well enough.

I was intending to load up a thousand rounds of .223 for my son in Virginia. He emailed me that I shouldn't bother because of the government buracucy involved in sending it...the made up ammo.

Little did I know that you all say you can ship ammo without any extra hazmat fees. My local post office back then, said I could not ship by regular mails live ammo.

So, I threw in the towl on the whole deal...and I'm stuck with rifle powder I can't use.

44and45, It's legal to ship loaded cartridges by UPS. I've done it several times.

Cartridges shipped UPS or by any other private carrier legally have to be marked as hazardous material. ORM-D, small arms cartridges. UPS charges an extra $8-10 or so. Or at least that's what they charged about a year ago. The larger companies that ship ammo all the time probably get a price break, since ORM-D isn't nearly as big a deal as whatever classification powder and primers are. Stuff like spray paint and hairspray are also ORM-D. But I know I got charged about $8 extra to ship properly labeled ammo, by UPS.

If you didn't put the black ORM-D label on the box or otherwise notify UPS of what was being shipped so that they could slap a sticker on, you probably shouldn't admit to Federal offenses on a public forum.

Um, I shipped ammo to myself for last year's USPSA nationals, California to Tulsa, ground, and um.. it only cost extra because it was heavy and not because it was being shipped ORM-D. 500 rounds.. Nice and easy..

You do have to go to the UPS terminal though, they won't usually allow you to ship it via a place like mailboxes etc.

Ammo has to be shipped hazmat, with the exceptions of smallarms ammo in quantities less than 66 pounds, which can be shipped ORM-D instead. All ORM-D packages require appropriate labeling. Either a sticker, or I just read that apparently you can just write "ORM-D" on the box in marker, as long as you also draw a rectangle around "ORM-D."

I have oreded ammo from midway and never been charded extra it just has to be shipped ground.

As far as the op I don't think you get a price cut but I think graffs will give you one.
