I was just wandering what everyones favorite brands are for both Practice and SD.

My favorites:

Practice

Sellier & Bellot FMJ - Cabelas.com $10-19 shipping is also cheap

Remington UMC FMJ - Dicks Sporting Goods $10-19
_________

Self Defense

Hornady XTP/JHP - Cabelas.com $14-25 for 20 rounds

My favorite practice ammo is some kind of russian steel cased ammo or surplus. Cheap and goes bang just about all the time.

For self defense I don't know. I haven't done extensive testing so see what performs well in my gun and on a target.

My favorite brand is the cheapest. Usually, WWB at Wal-Mart, 9mm, FMJ $19+/100. Although their .45/100 is now at $29/100. Every so often I'll pick up a box or two for the safe so I always have some around. I can't beat this online, taking shipping into account.

I used to buy the cheapest, like Winchester white box & Remington until I tried shooting Fiocchi in my .45, I could see the Winchester and Remington ammo veering off away from the bullseye, not so with the Fiocchi and of course my reloads

I use WWB 9mm for practice (19.97/100 at Walmart, and Federal HST 147 gr. (19.95/50 at Ammunition to Go) for SD.

.22lr:
Mostly Federal Bulk, sometimes Winchester Super-X

Handgun:
90% WWB, the other is American Eagle (I prefer it but it is more expensive than WWB)

7mm-08: Federal Fusion all the way

22-250: Random lots of cheap Remington to Federal Match

30-30: Winchester powerpoint + Federal GAmeShock

12ga+410= Federal

Mosin: Whatever I can find

Wolf, Magtec, and Federal Hydrashocks .45acp for the pistols.

Nothing but LC, HXP, Federal Match and my own reloads for the rifles.

Been reloading Winchester AA hulls 12 ga. for years now, have quite a large supply and I don't shoot clays much anymore.

My favorite practice brand in 9mm is Speer, I get it for free (sorry to rub it in).

For my Marlin 336 in .35 remington, I guess I like remington Cor-Lokt, but currently have a bunch of Winchester Super X which I suppose is just as good.

As to other calibers, no special brands.

I don't have much to choose from locally. WWB FMJ is pretty much the norm for me in 9mm, .45 ACP, and .357 mag. I've seen some Remington, Magtech, and S & B around the island but it is sometimes expensive.
