I'm interested in getting some .45acp (.452 diameter 230 gr) lead bullets off ebay, but I don't know if I trust any yahoo who makes his own on ebay to know what they're doing. for all I know they could be cast in some Chinese basement and be shipped over here.

I'd like to ask folks on here first if they'd be interested in hiring out their casting services to a new reloader. Looking for .452 diameter, 170 to 230 grain cast lead pre-measured ready to load, bullets. I can pay through paypal or personal check (if you're that trusting, I know I'm not usually) Or Cash if you're around the Wichita, KS area.

Jason,

Lots of commercial casts sell very good bullets in that caliber. I wouldn't advise buying bullets off of ebay and I doubt it would be worth it for a private individual to cast these for you, he couldn't make his money back. You could cast your own or some of the guys that buy bullets will come along and advise you of some good online outfits to buy from.

Here's a link to a good website if you should decide to make your own:

thanks for your patience.
I didn't know that casting was that expensive. I figured there may be a cheaper source of lead for some fellas and they would be getting paid just for their time.

NOw that I'm thinking about it a 6-cavity is the biggest die I've seen, and even at that it would take a long time to produce a bunch of bullets. 500 .45acp 230 gr would be about 17 lbs! that's a lot of lead, especially for $30. I guess I'll just buy the one's from Midway USA when they restock.

There are some commercial casters who sell on ebay as well. I use quite a few cast bullets from Kead bullets and he has an ebay store, Although I call and order them direct from him. There are others as well.

Try Oregon Trail (Laser Cast). I just bought some 38 spl cast bullets and they even provide load data. By the way, their web site does not advertise this, but if you call and ask they will send you 6 sample round of any load you like, up to 3 differnt packs. And if you don't want to buy 500 rounds they will sell you 100 rounds of any bullet, but the cost savings is not as much. At least you get to play with them first.

Grandmaster bullets

They sell on Ebay or go to there web site Grandmaster.com?
There in Canon city CO.
I use there 200 grain Flat tipped round nose. Sized .452
Very clean shooting out of my S&W 625.

+1 on Kead bullets. (good prices last time I ordered as well)

Shooters Choice in Jacksonville IL has been the most accurate for me. $25 per 500 last batch I bought. I WILL be casting my own this winter though . ..I figure a week of the in-laws visiting will generate about 3000 .45 ACP bullets. :)
