Okay, I have researched this pretty in depth and am almost sure I'm in the clear from the laws I've read, but still wanted to ask you guys. 4 years ago, I was behaving like an idiot with some dumbasses in my first year of college, and to make a long story short, got a DWI and a misdemeanor marijuana simple posession charge. Presently, I have been sqeaky clean for the 4 years since, have a family, dont even drink, etc.....and am generally a responsible citizen now. Does anyone think this has any potential of barring me from getting my CHL? I have already taken the gun safety course required and just have to send the paperwork off to the State Police HQ with my check. As far as I can tell, as long as I don't have any felonies or violent crimes, which I don't, I'm in the clear according to the law. I'm just kinda nervous about this causing me to be denied. Anyone have any insight into this? Thanks, -Nathan

Also cause for denial of an CHL application is a conviction in the previous three (3) years relating to violation of the Uniform Controlled Substance Act.

If it's been 4 years and it's just a misdemeanor you should be good to go. I believe the 3 years starts at the end of any probation, not the conviction date.

You may have to submit a final disposition.

Good luck. I believe most everyone deserves second chances.
