AR15 accuracy!!

Having heard so much about match grade ammo and heavy barrels, I decided to try some shots with Remington VMC 55 grain 223 ammo from a Bushmaster. The results are surprising (at least to me). Anybody else have any stories or pictures of accuracy with AR's?

How is your Bushmaster configured? I am curious, because I feel the primary limiting factor on accuracy with my rifle is my difficulty using the peep sights. Is yours a carbine? Heavy barrel? I'd like to know more about your setup. I plan on hunting coyotes with mine...

seen better but I dont think its surpriseing been there when Longdayjake put up a group of ten through the same hole just made the hole a bit wider with his rock river

It's a XM15 with a Vmax tube, free floated 20" heavy bull barrel. I know overall accuracy isn't surprising for the gun itself, I was more surprised to get this grouping with the cheap Remington ammo, and my poor rifle shooting skills.

What kind of accuracy can you expect out of a stock 16" carbine?

My AR15 is used for competition, so the only time I shoot it off the bench is when I'm doing load development.

While it's not a 'one ragged hole' group, here's one of the best ones I ever shot in a match. 10 rounds, rapid fire, fired in a time limit of 60 seconds in the sitting position. Cleaned the target with a 100-7X. The first two shots were the high 10's, then I changed mags and adjusted elvation

This was shot from a White Oak Armament service rifle upper with a Wilson 1-7 twist barrel. Ammo was a Sierra 77gr matchking, 24gr Varget, Federal brass, WSR primer.

It looks like pretty good shooting. Based on the size of the holes, I'd say that if you superimposed the targets on each other that group would easily be under 1", but I'm a little dubious about those squares being 1.5". That would make the little squares inside 1/2" each and those .22" holes just don't seem to cover enough area for that to be the case.

More like 3", the squares behind the diamond are probably 1" each.

zammyman nice rifle, i also have a bushmaster xm15e2s. started of as your basic stock m4 carbine. then i got carried away, heres some pics/range results

this is only @50 yards, where im from the range here is limited, will try 100 yards soon

my rifle shoots best w/60 grain hollow points. barrel twist is 1:8
24" stainless bb, w/jp free float guard

I know the forward carry handle on this is rather ironic. I just really wanted it, and I needed a good place to store the extra firing pin, etc, too.
