I remember an older post about a Walmart that was preparing to sell guns. Today I went to my local Walmart in Amite, LA, and noticed empty gun cases and plan-o-gram sheets taped where each products would go. Are other Walmarts around the country "gunning up" too?

My local WalMart stopped selling guns in 2008 and just about 2 weeks ago they installed the gun cases. I went in yesterday and the have a few rifles and shotguns but the case is not full yet.Seems mostly cheaper weapons.

More guns "here", less guns "there". Strange trend. Maybe it depends on demand and/or legality. Maybe something bigger, but I'm not going that far.

My local walmart has not sold guns for years, but when I walked in today, they had gun racks with some cheaper remingtons, mossbergs, and savages. I probably wouldn't buy any guns from walmart, but it is good to see that they are selling them again.

Target carrys guns and ammo?

Sadly no longer, at one time Target had the VERY BEST prices on ammo and a great selection of S&W handguns at factory list prices, no mark ups' on hot sellers such as the M-39 or M-19's.

The Walmart in Vicksburg, MS has sold rifles as long as i can remember.
They don't always keep enough ammo, but they have been doing okay lately.

Here in San Antonio I know of one wal-mart that sells guns and ammo and 2 other wal-marts that sell only ammo.

Target sells no guns or ammo.... how sad... and ironic.
None of the Walmarts in my area sell guns. Only some of them sell ammo.
I'd like to see them sell guns, although it's not like I buy guns all that often. :(

Every Walmart I have been to within say 20-25 miles of my home sells firearms. That is roughly 5 Walmarts. I believe this is new, and only remember 2 that used to sell firearms. I could be misremembering, but it seems like all the newly constructed or remodeled Walmarts here have installed firearms displays.

Hey guys...let us know where you live (in your post or profile) so your observations are germain to the conversation.

The Walmart here in Bloomington sells some black powder rifles and most ammo...price is fair though they are still recovering from the "ammo run" a few years back.

When I lived in Northern VA 4 years ago the ammo supply was very good and quite varied. They also sold black powder and some inexpensive mossbergs, marlins and a few other brands.

Monday it looked like they were getting ready to put them up on display. I saw boxes with boys and girls single shot Cricket rifles, a Marlin Model 336, and a H&R shotgun.

Walmart doesn't sell guns in my city, or even in my state as far as I'm aware. I heard that their employees were not filling out paperwork correct and the ATF got quite upset. Though that is just a rumor, as far as I know.

the two wal-marts in my area sell guns and ammo. but there is a huge difference in the gun end of it. one just has enough cheap guns to say they have them. the other has lots of good guns in stock. :what: i believe management plays a big role in what they carry. wal-mart corperate may tell them if they have to or not, but local management decides on what, and how much. the wal-mart in gaylord michigan the last time i was in there, actually had some reloading supplies! that is my theory, and i am sticking to it.:neener:

I don't think any of the Wal-Marts in the Greater Houston Metro area sell guns. I am not sure though because there are probably 15-20. Heck, the one closest to me (5 minutes as opposed to 10) was out of ALL 9mm, .40, and .45 on wednesday....:banghead:

Depends on where ya live, my wife has been a walmart manager for 15 year now. lots of rural locations still carry firearms but are relegated to mostly rifles and shotguns, wont find any urban walmarts selling guns anymore
