San Diego Shooters!
There will be a shoot in Jacumba this weekend, the 16th, at 7 AM in Jacumba.
Map attached. I'm Dave, I'll be in a white f-150.
Take 8 east to the Jacumba exit.
Left at the gas stations, left at the end of the road. Up the road a ways, we'll be on the right side. you can't miss it.

+1 to No_Brakes23's sentiments.

Had to do it the day I ship out didn't you, I smell a gov't conspiracy. :scrutiny:

How far east is the Jacumba exit? What other exits are before that, coming from Sandy Eggo?

It's a good hours drive out. IIRC, there's only one exit for "Jacumba".

You might want to join the SDShooting group I'm going to try to meet up with someone else, and maybe go out with them...

This is great blastin' fun. I'm going to bring my Hakim this time, and maybe my M39. ast time, we had dozens of guns... :D Some SKSes, an M1A, a .500 S&W Magnum (first time I ever popped one of those off!), and all sorts of other stuff. Oh, and I've saved up some milk jugs to fill with water and blow up...

Man, I'm gung ho to go, but my 13 year old is in Junior Lifeguard camp at the Y this week, and his face is already FRIED. (Despite all the hats, sunscreen etc.) Poor kid is one big blistered red freckle already, and he has 3 days to go!) I'd love to come and work out some shootin irons, but I may have to keep him under cover all weekend.

jnojr,
You never got back to me on the SD Shooters list. You want to meet at my place, fill your jugs, and throw all the guns in my truck?

Sounds good to me. I'm free most every Saturday. Sundays aren't so good. I might be able to do a Sunday early morning with some advanced notice.

No hassles

No hassles at all. The Border Patrol guys drive past about every half hour or so, and we all wave "hi" at each other.

I've shot out there probably ten times. Never a hassle from anyone. Border Patrol smiles and waves, possibly because it is the most secure section of the the border, anywhere, when we are shooting :)

Thanks for the info. I'd heard about this place through the grapevine, but always wondered if it was ok to shoot there. Unfortunately, I can't make it this weekend, but now that I know it's legal, I'll check it out one of these days.

I feel obligated to point out that I do not know for a fact if it is legal. All I do know is that people have been shooting there for a long time, and often, with no grief from the Border Patrol or local law enforcement.

It IS legal to shoot there. It is on BLM land and I specifically contacted them about it the first time I went out there. You can hunt on any BLM land that doesn't have signs preventing it. Target shooting is confined to Jacumba, as far as I know, in the Inland Valley BLM lands (Imperial County & East San Diego County).

Don't take your guns into the Anza Borrego desert, however, as that is NOT kosher.
