Bassett mount for M1A

I have decided to scope one of my M1As even though I love iron sights, just my 58 year old eyes arent up to it anymore. I am going with a Bassett Picatinny High mount that is supposed to let you still use your irons. just wondering if any of yall know if a 50 mm objective lens will still allow this and if it will pose an ejection problem.

Objective diameter should have no effect on ejection. With a 50 MM scope, I believe you will have to use medium or high rings to be able to use the irons. With low rings, the objective bell will probably obscure sight picture.

I have the Bassett low mount, and needed a set of high rings to keep from hitting the rear sight with a 3x9-50mm Nikon scope; the iron sights are not usable with the low mount installed. Fortunately, it's easy to undo the one screw and remove the mount if you need to use the irons, and when you put the mount back on, it returns to zero. I've really never needed to use the scope and the irons simultaneously, even on rifles that have the see-through mounts.

The Sadlak mount allows you to continue to use the irons, is engineered to allow proper ejection and is still low enough you don't need a lot of cheek raiser.

Here's a 44mm bell in med Burris xtreme tac rings, there is room for a 50mm bell with the same rings.
