BBQ Guns - Myth or Reality?

I never really got the idea of the BBQ gun -- seems perilously close, conceptually, to such winners as pimp guns and the platinum plated, rhine stone bedazzled super guns favored by Mexican drug cartel sicarios.
It only 'seems' that way to the uninitiated. Huge difference between a tastefully engraved Colt SAA, S&W or 1911 with ivory or stag stocks and what one would commonly perceive as a "pimp gun". If you don't understand the difference, I won't be able to explain it to you.

The southwestern tradition of the BBQ and the BBQ gun has to be seen to really believed. It's something that really can't be totally explained, it has to be experienced. As the old saw goes, "if you have to ask you would not understand the answer."

They do happen, even in Colorado though the firearms aren't always as fancy as the food.

But yeah bbq sauce and bluing seem like a nightmare together.

We recently had a get together and had some out of town folks. At one point we were target shooting. The folks from out of town were appalled that we would have guns around children. I told her to look around, that nearly everyone there was "strapped". She couldn't believe it. :eek:I just said, "Welcome to West Virginia".;)

Dave's Insanity can sure do a number. I want to thank everyone on this thread, I have another excuse to tell the wife when I want a new gun. "But Honey, I don't have a BBQ gun yet."

Huh, good reason to take the teflon coated Dan Wesson..... I would be upset if something on the picnic table took that finish off. ~Wingnut13

So, for a BBQ in Texas on private property; Can anyone open carry with the property owner's consent? Or just the property owner?

I have a 1911 and a blackhawk that i'd really love to get engraved and make bbq quality. I've been putting off getting some nice holster and belt rigs for so long I don't see it happening any time soon. I'm just a cheapskate! BUT I swear i'll have a nice bbq rig before I die:)

Txhoghunter.....as far as I know u can carry with owners consent for any reason. I'm really hoping we get an open carry law. Maybe if more people exorcise their right to open carry (where legal) it'll smooth the road for full oc?

Private property owners here can give anyone permission to open carry, concealed carry, etc. on their property. I've seen some legal types make the statement that if the owner is not actually present the owner has to give the other person "care, custody, and control" of the property as well as just permission to open carry, but I'm not sure where they get that from.

I've seen that statement made in regards to employees carrying inside a place of business, not out in a field somewhere.

I don't know when it started, but my brother and I started wearing our ivory gripped 1911's at our folk's house for "the Holidays". Both were staunch Democrats, but always supported the 2nd Amdmt.
I wasn't sure that was even possible. It's very rare, to say the least.
It's possible. I don't think it's all that rare necessarily :)
