What is the best way to store 7.62x39 (or any ammo in a cardboard box) for the long term?

Yes, it's a noob question, but I can pick up quite a bit at $3 per box of 20 ($30 for 200 rounds) and its just in a flimsy cardboard box....
I was thinking maybe some cheap ammo cans off Cheaper than Dirt.
    My biggest worry is humidity.

I'm thinking inside pvc pipe add a few dessicant bags glue caps on both ends and buried with a post hole digger until such time it needs recovered

    and I mean it.

If your not trying to hide it i'm sure that the ammo cans would work just fine. Some dessicant bags inside of them would help, just check and make sure the rubber seals are in good shape.

I also have a vacuum sealer, had not thought of storing ammo or primers that way but what a great Idea.:) THANKS
