Bon Ami as lapping compound?

I've seen few people mention using Bon Ami for making a bolt action smoother. IIRC, people mentioned that it was about as effective as JB Bore Paste. However, I haven't been able to find the thread where it was discussed. Can anyone shed some light on this topic?

Bon Ami and comet have been used in the past for some polishing / lapping jobs. The only problem is complete removal of the product, especially if done with water instead of very thin oil. JB is easier to work with and easier to remove. Save the extra effort and cussing and go JB.
