I'm building my first AR, its a LW-15 lower, Del Ton Dissapator upper with Magpul forend and full buttstock, rifle length buffer, UTG Ergonomic sniper grip, and a cheap (for now) rubber coated scope...Wondering who has the best price currently on bulk 5.56 plinking ammo?

For plinking ammo, wolf is fine, but the groups will be nothing to brag about. PMC, Federal bulk(100 round box at walmart) are a good value. Most of the military stuff is good, m193, m855, etc. AE223 is the ammo i like right now. I get consistant groups with it. Yesterday with a 4x scope i was geting 1MOA(2") 5 shot groups at 200 yards. For the next level up, I like Hornady Steel match. After that you are getting into precision ammo that is to expensive for plinking.

Keep an eye on Brownells and Natchez Shooters' Supply, both will occasionally have Lake City 5.56 (military grade) for roughly $300/case.

What's the cheapest 556 you're seeing? I can find 223 affordable all day long, but the hotter stuff is a different story. We aren't too far apart distance wise, so any info is appreciated.

It's been getting worse the last couple months or so.

I'm not even sure where I'd go for well priced 5.56 right now.

I was falling back on targetsportsusa but they don't have a good 5.56 case offering right now. Cabellas had a decent sale but it's gone. Same with PSA. Cheaper than dirt is always high on shipping. sgammo is out of a bunch of stuff too.

Election must be too close. :(
