Cabelas Gun Counter Rep Let My Gun Fall!

That's another reason I haven't let them install a scope on the two long guns I've purchased from them. I don't trust they wouldn't get something cross threaded or something.

I've been nailed before by the sign saying WE WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE THEFT OR DAMAGE OF YOUR PROPERTY ON OUR PREMISES, so I look for it everytime, and always ask before having any work done exactly what their liability is. It's good to know in advance.

That being said, I had my wife shoot my chrony with her 357. Parts went flying everywhere, and I stood there with my jaw pasted to my chest. Then I laughed like crazy. What else can you do? Stuff happens. She was sorry, but hey I let her do it, it was my fault, not hers.

I'd have snatched the rifle from his hands and butt-stroked him right between the eyes. Dropped him like a rock. Saw a Gunny do that once. Awesome.

Oh, wait...that would have worked with a Garand or an M14. The AR might have left a little red mark on his forehead for twenty minutes or so. :banghead:

Oh, crap...another caliber war.

Now that was funny. Not too many things make me literally laugh out loud, but that did. And your reaction was pure class. Thanks for sharing.

Did he do push-ups afterwards?

AAAAHAHAHAH! I remember those days...oh the fun we had.:D

In all seriousness, stuff happens. It matters whether he was utterly careless and tossing your gun around, or thought it was secure and then it fell. If it was the latter, then surprise, the guy's a human. If the former, then he's a careless human and you should go elsewhere.

Totally agree with that. You can't expect perfection all the time. Stuff indeed happens...nobody can run a gun counter forever without something getting dropped. You could have the whole place staffed by obsessive-compulsive clerks and you'd still eventually have one hit the deck.

The good news here is that it couldn't have happened to a better platform. Optics aside, if an AR can't survive a fall from a few feet you know you got the wrong brand.

Yep...I have seen some heinous things done to that platform with them taking no damage.

If it sustained some damage make them fix it...otherwise just be thankful that you bought a tough gun.

You were lucky. I have a friend that took a 51 Winny to a local gunsmith to mount sights and he drilled right thru the barrel.
