Chambering issue with XDS?

I received my ccw in the mail yesterday (finally!) and promptly traded in my full size Px4 Storm .45 for a gun that I could more comfortably carry. I absolutely love this little .45 so far and can't wait to put some rounds through it in the morning! I bought a Galco iwb holster originally made for the "pocket 9's" like the Kahr's, LC9's, Nano's...etc, it fits pretty good. The only thing that I've noticed about it which I'm not sure of is as I was racking the first from the mag using the sling shot method the rd would sometimes not seat and would jam resulting in me dropping the mag, locking the slide and removing the stuck round. Whenever I rack the crap out of it there isn't an issue. Has anyone else with an xds noticed this before? Thanks.

I actually did a quick search on here and found a thread that addresses my question. Turns you do you need to rack the xds with a bit of a vengeance. Should've of searched before I posted!

Good to hear, I just shot one for the first time the other day great little gun the only issues it was having was some light primer strikes. Hopefully that will work out as the gun gets broke in.

the chambers on all XD series pistols are very tight.. if you have continuing issues with it, call SA about it..

How many rounds do you have through the gun?

    I had the same experience.

The first time I shot the gun, it would not feed properly. I just could not get a shell chambered.
Fortunately I was shooting at the store/range that I also bought the gun from and told the manager that I must have gotten a "bad copy".

My face is still a bit red from him going to the firing line with me and promptly feeding round after round into the chamber.
He told me the same thing that you heard...haul back on that sucker and let it fly! I was 'soft-racking' the slide. Let that stout recoil spring do the work and i functions flawlessly.

The XDS has now become my favorite full-time carry piece. Nothing like having a pocket-gun in .45 ACP (you don't even NEED an IWB holster.
I no longer even worry about the effectiveness of the .380 that WAS my daily carry. And the XDS even CARRIES MORE DISCRETELY AND COMFORTABLY THAN THE LITTLE "MOUSE GUNS"!

Springfield really has a winner with the XDS.

Sorry guys I was away for awhile...I've put about 200 through it since I bought it a few days ago. I've had no other issues with racking it once I learned that you MUST pull that slide all the way back before releasing or the round won't seat. It's not a big deal to me though, just rack that sucker with some authority and your gtg (or use the slide release). On about the 150th round I too had a light primer strike which seems to be a reoccurring theme with the xds based on what I read on the xd forums but its not enough for me to question or dislike the gun at this point. I also noticed on the forums that those who initially reported the light primer strikes reported later that after firing many more rounds the gun was flawless so maybe it just needs a break in period? This is my first striker fired pistol so I'm not sure about a lot of those types of things. I do know for sure that it is crazy accurate and a little monster of a .45, all in all it's everything I wanted in a carry gun and I couldn't be happier at this point.

I find it helps with a new gun to take a little Mothers Mag Polish to the feed ramp using only a rag and a little pressure from my thumb. When it's nice and shiney I stop. Seems to prevent this issue in most cases.

Rack-er-HARD... my full size XD is like that. Be all touchy feely easy on it, and there is issues.

The very first round I racked in the chamber on my new XDs, didn't go in at all. I dropped the mag, and racked it like I meant it, and it has performed flawlessly since. It's hard to believe that this little gun is so much easier to shoot than any of my 9mm's, with much less felt recoil. They have a real winner with this one. :D:D:D
