Constitution Day?

I was at a friends looking at some old calendars 1936 through 1947 and wanted to see what day of the week my mom was born on in 1939 (Sept 17th) and lo and behold it was 'Constitution Day'.

I never heard of it though it sounds good. Anybody know anything about it?

Oh yeah, one more dumb question, Why'd they do away with it?

soooo since i Believe in the RKBA thats granted to me by the Constitution which i revere as much as my bible can i take that day for religious reasons?

Constitution Day is celebrated September 17 to recognize and remember the day in 1817 when the 55 delegates to the Constitutional Convention met for the final time and signed the completed Constitution.

Like Bill of Rights day (December 15), the holiday has all but died from the national consciousness.

If I were a cynic, I would say it is because the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are both dead. Why celebrate the irrelevant?

We still take note of these days in our little home school. I don't recall ever hearing about them in government school, but perhaps I wasn't listening that day.

Because the United States Constitution is incompatible with communist beliefs, and we can't have THAT, now can we?

With the quagmire diversity of beliefs nowadays and the almost mandated social acceptance/non-discrimination/anti-hate/whatever, I don't see how they could turn you down.

I feel like I should know that. Didn't. Now I wonder how many others on the board haven't heard of it either.

Oh man, they missed the boat on that National buy Ammo day (Ammu-Nation Day wouldv'e been better), they should've did it on Constitution Day. When was that? November 21st?

Thats great. We all should do that, and celebrate it too. We could all go BBQ in the park in full battle gear (the 2nd is not about duck hunting), stomping and marching and twirling rifles! Star Spangled Banner, Flags, spot on the news, Rifle Raffle, then the ammo store on the way home. Whoops, got some bbq sauce on the AR.
