Posted this thread in the revolver forum as well, seeings how it becomes a bit of a hybrid this way:
I was thinking about getting a conversion cylinder for my Colt Walker, but I realized that on most sites it says that its for Uberti, or Pietta only. I have a Colt Heritage model from 1980, so I am not sure what kind to get, anyone know this by chance? I get the feeling im SOL because its not a Uberti.

    Good News

Your Walker is a 2nd Generation Colt. Second Gen. Colts used cylinders, barrels, and backstraps sourced from Uberti. The Uberti cylinder will fit your Walker. :)

Even though it will fit your Walker the cylinder is not that great. I bought one for my Uberti Walker a year ago and sold it a few days later. The reason for me was I did not like having to do so much just to load it. You have to pull the wedge then take the gun apart then pull the cylinder then take the cylinder apart and load it then repeat the whole thing again. It for me is just better to shoot it the way it was ment. Just thought I would tell you my opinion. Good luck with the choice.:)

Is the same true for the Ruger Old Army conversion cylinder?

Damn I forgot about that, it doesn't have the loading gate the 1860 has. Thanks for telling me that, that does indeed sound like more trouble than it's worth. :cuss:

    Ruger Old Army

Yes, the same is true of the Old Army cylinder. However, it's much easier to remove the cylinder from an Old Army, or a Remington, than it is from a Colt.

Six Shootin Sam- Where did you see a cylinder for an 1860 with a loading gate? R&D was supposed to start making one last year, but it never came to be.
