Just thought I'd post this in case anyone didn't already find out. Here's the article. DEADLY WEAPONS DEALER CONTROL ORDINANCE

Luckily(?), I never got around to buying any of the banned firearms, so I don't have to get them out of the county in 90 days. They just sort of passed it with no publicity, no notice to anyone - typical. Another indication of stupidity from the Daley/Blagojavich machine.

Still trying to get out of here and into Arizona!

(Guess this should have been in, "Legal and Political" - Sorry!)

This was discussed here a couple of weeks ago. I find it sadly amusing how much stuff that's banned on there I own.

And as I predicted, they named the Sub 2000 specifically on there. Can't have that, it FOLDS! OMG! And the hi-point carbine as well, with a 10rd mag? Yeah. Heaven forbid people with little experience with handguns be able to defend their home with an inexpensive, easily-aimed firearm.
 
Plenty of room - you could even have a job waiting, if you want.
How is it legal to do that...confiscate without compensation, even a token? The Chicago machine wants no competition from the "unorganized militia", to the "organized mob".

How can this be such a bad ordinance? I mean look, after all it appears to have been sponsored and co-sponsored by such Honorable fellas.:barf:
 
Also keep in mind that anything that Boss Daley's bodyguards carry is most certainly on this list, if not outright Class III.
 
The ultimate statement of this bill's true intent is when they put the Mini-14 in the list of banned models. The old bill had the Mini 14/5F on there (pistol grip and folding stock). The new one makes no distinctions. Now a rifle with none of the features of an "assault rifle" is an assault rifle.

Also the features section of the pistol section was cut and pasted into the rifle section. What rifle has a slide? The shroud thing is so ambiguous. Does the stock of a 10/22 count? Is an M1A banned under this provision? What about my XCR's since the upper receiver is one piece and holds the gas tube in position?
 
They specify the Mini-14 but don't say anything about the Mini-30 :rolleyes: although it meets the definition of an assault rifle simply be being semi-auto and having a detachable mag.

Hopefully, Daley and his mob will get voted out of office one day and this sort of bull poo-poo will stop.
 
I wonder if anyone will challenge the ordinance and get a restraining order like happened in San Francisco? Is the NRA involved yet?

Confiscation can't be legal with out fair compensation can it? Will the county LEO's go door to door to enforce confiscation or just hope that the sheep - errr - citizens voluntarily comply?

How can people put up with this garbage especially folks who live in that cesspit called Chicago (at least it was a stinking cesspit of crime when I lived there in the mid 70's - probably worse now)?

Every time a city or county passes something like this ordinance it brings US another step closer to becoming a true police state. Oh well - what will be will be.
 
Werewolf, no, there will be no challenge as in San Fransico. Illinois does not have preemption.

Yes, police will be going door to door to confiscate and arrest gun owners. The have a specific unit, CAGE, to do so.

People in Cook County do not care as Daley keeps the money coming in.

Yes, Chicago is a police state and the government likes it that way.:)
 
If Chicago can bulldoze an airport overnight (Meigs) and get away from it along with evicting people from homes in businesses in neighboring towns(O'Hare expansion), there is no way in heck that the gun ban will be stopped, slowed, or eliminated.
 
Why do they ban thumbhole stocks but not pistol grips? It only bans pistol grips if its "Only a pistol grip without a stock attached". That means an AR would be legal if it wasn't specifically named, used 10rd mags, and had no flash hider/muzzle break. Oh yeah, would have to remove or modify the foregrip too.

Isn't this the same ban some whack job just introduced in congress?

In Chicago? Are you kidding? If they did, I expect they might have a most unfortunate accident. Boss Daley's goons are organized crime in office, period.
 
I have heard Hi-pionts are an assault on good firearms but never an assault weapon. I live in IL but years ago I moved out Crook County for this reason. I live three counties away and If I didnot have to commute to O-scare all the time I would be farther awway.

The CAGE units will be kicking down doors right away. Daley loves his CAGE unit and everyone of them on it are Kool-aid drinkers.

On the plus side...they appear to have polished up their knowledge and understanding of the "type" of firearms they seek to ban. I mean...sure...they've labeled the Hi-Point an assault weapon, but look, they're way out ahead of the curve in getting the Tavor on the list before it is even available to us grimy proles.

They've also been careful to include "Any feature capable of functioning as a protruding grip that can be held by the non-trigger hand" as one of the criteria for getting a firearm within their definition.
