My wife really liked the CW9 she saw at the range yesterday, however she would prefer a night sight up front and a plain black rear. I'm assuming I could just spin the rear sight around backwards (like I did on my G19), however the night sight up front has proven to be a problem.

So, does anyone know where I could have a Kahr dovetail cut, or should I just ask about a P9 instead? Whats the going price of a P9?

If you gonna spend that kind of money to have a dovetail cut, damn buy the P9 or the PM9 kahrs. Don't mess with dovetail cuts in the CW9. It is a great gun the way it is, a super gun, she really doesn't need the damn nite sites either. She just thinks she does. YOU CAN'T CHANGE THE FRONT SITE ON THE CW series.

On the black site, why spin it around, just paint the white part black...

Buy the P9, I think they come with two magazines, the slidel lock lever is forged, alittle more engraving on the slide, dovetails for any nite sties avaialble and the barrel are Polygonal rifled.. Worth the difference IMO..

She knows. I have pistols with night sights, plain sights, and night sights up front with plain rears. The front night sight and plain black rear is her favorite set up, as it is mine.

I may just go ahead and get the CW9 anyway. Gives me an excuse to buy the P9 when I can afford it. The CW9 is in stock now, I could pick it up when I get my Saiga. The P9 is not in stock, and I don't have that much extra cash because of the Saiga and parts for the conversion.

Buy a P with night sights already on it (or at least the dovetail already cut) and save time and money.

CW (and older E) series sights are staked through two holes. Cutting a dovetail will bisect the holes and may leave part of the holes remaining on either side of the groove. This may create a stress point at which the slide could crack in the future.

Yeah, I thought about that not long after my last post. I figured that someone made replacement front sights that had a screw in the bottom (like the sight I put on my glock).

yup

cw owners would love to see an after market front nite site...The cw series is kahrs best seller, \

One would think some after market site people woldhave comeup with something.

Buy the cw, leave it alone, then get the P9 later on with nite sites and u are good to go. or just hold off and order the P9 with nite sites. You probably won't find a P9 with nite sites sitting in any dealers show case.

i think the limit on the market would be that it would cost almost as much as the difference between the CW and the P...most folks buy the CW to save money and don't figure in the extra mag, sights and polygonal barrel. a CW is for folks who like it the way it is

and

ur dead right. It is the same internals as the k, P or PM series. so they didn't cheapen anything other than soem of the bells and whistles that you find on the K, P and PM series.

The cw is a super super gun, probablyt he best buy out there right now IMO.

I think I paid $40 for the night sight on my glock.

P9 sights are kind of a moot point. Night sights aren't standard on the P9, in fact they cost about $100 more, on top of the ~$150 higher price tag.

nice thing about the P9 even without nite sites is that later on down the road U CAN INSTALL NITE SITES . Kahrs factory nite sites are good ones but I personally like the xsbig dot nite sites.

You can box that slide up andsend it back to kahr and they have three or 4 different type of nite sites that they will sell and install for you.

trust me , ask any kahr owner,if you don't have a site pusher, THEN LET KAHR OR A SMITTY do the work..

I think I would pay $150 more for a P series over the cw series, you get an extra magazine, dovetails sites, forged slide stop lever, polygonal rifled barrel.
I just never see a P series in any gun shop. It is usually the cw series or the PM series, very few k and p series. Also u can get the P series in the dlc black finish slide which is really awesome (alittle more money to)
Still for the best bang for your buck, IMO the CW is the way to go. Most nite sites owners probably got um just to say " I got nite sites'". certainly not a necessity..

Many feel the cw series is the average JOE'S cadillac...
I guess nite sites are like a spare tire, it's there if needed..

Adjusting Sights CW9

I almost started a new thread, but since this concerns CW9 sights I will ask it here. I have a CW9 that hits about 8 inches high and 3 inches right at 10 yards. Is there any way to adjust the sights. It hits high/right regardless of what kind of ammo I use.

8" is alot at only 10 yards

you might consider having someone else shoot it to confirm your findings first, because...

the only way to lower the point of impact that much is to get a taller front sight or a shorter rear sight.

after you confirm that it shoots high for others too, i'd call Kahr and see if they can help you

For everyone who shoots it it is high. I've got DA revolvers that I can hit dead on.

how

about seeing less of the front site???that will lower for sure.

[QUOTEseeing less of the front site] [/QUOTE]

that defeats the whole instinctive aligning to the tops of the sights and would slow down the critical first shot

whatever, was just trying to give you another avenue. some people cover the target complete, some use 6 o"clock hold. All what one gets used to doing I guess..

My CW9 is back at Kahr for repairs for the 2nd time in a month. While I was on the phone with the rep, I asked him if it was possible to put a P9 slide on the CW instead of the CW slide. He said that the frame and grip may look the same but that the dimensions were different and that it wouldn't work. I would love to compare the two side by side and see if that is indeed the case. If not, you could easily buy a P9 slide for $135 and install it later if you wanted to add sights down the road.

perhaps i misunderstood you...i thought you were talking about seeing less front sight blade in the rear notch
