As the role-playing crowd here knows, I'm working on a setting called Dark Vigilantian . Here are some NPC's.
First, a bad guy:

Wilson "Shmuckatelli" Blunkett

Cliche Quote: "ATF! [BANG! BANG!] Everybody on the ground! [BANG!] NOW! [BANG!]
Last Words: "This is going to be easy. Bust in, take out a bunch of guns, take a lot of pictures."

As of the top BATFE investigators, Blunkett is THE most hated figure for gun enthusiasts in America. His tactics are considered ruthless even by ATF standards. Entrapment and perjury are the order of the day, and some "gun nuts" claim Wilson Blunkett has tortured quite a few people for information already. Of course, nobody believes them, and the ACLU has repeatedly refused to file a lawsuit on the matter.
He genuinely hates the "crazy gun nuts" and will stoop to anything to "defeat" them, especially if he can get a salary raise in the process. He maintains a huge network of informants, operating at gun shows, conventions, etc., which will provide various information to him on the "gun nuts' operations". Sometimes, he will "leak" information to anti-gun groups or the press to undermine the work of RKBA activists. The information "leaked" may be true or false - like the "leak" about how top members of the NRA Board of Directors were drug addicts (NY Times, April 15th, 2004).
Blunkett is, regardless, always clean-shaven, neat, and meticulous - which makes him an even more challenging foe for the PC's. He is always guarded in some way. If the PC's wish to assasinate Blunkett at some point in your campaign, remember that. Also remember, that if Blunkett gets away from his assasins for even a few minutes, he will call for backup. After this point, even if the PC's kill Blunkett, they are Screwed with a capital S, because a massive manhunt will begin to catch them, involving, at the very least, the local cops, the BATFE, and the FBI. The National Guard may also take part if the FedGov (i.e. the GM) views the PC's as a threat (read: "munchkins").

Plot Hooks: There's two main ways to introduce Blunkett into a Dark Vigilantian (or similar) scenario.
The first one is that a friend of one of the PC's is set up and/or killed by Blunkett, which will generally make it a simple revenge plot. However, a better
one would involve an NPC (Ferret Man would be the preferred choice) contacting them. According to Ferret Man, Blunkett has a plan of eliminating or discrediting several leading gun activists (Leaders of the NRA, GOA, Pink Pistols, JPFO, and several individual activists, such as Cornered Rat and Svetlana)

And a goodl girl:D :

Svetlana Orbakaite

Cliche Quote: "I have needed a handgun before, and there is no guarantee that I won't need one again."
Last Words: "S***! I'm out of ammo!"

It sometimes happens that an immigrant understands the principles upon which his new country is based better than many of those who actually live there. Svetlana is a Russian immigrant. Having lived in a high-crime area at one point of her life, she understands perfectly why the Founding Fathers wrote the Second Amendment. She always carries one handgun at the very least, coupled with a can of pepper spray. She will usually apply the less lethal means of defense first. However, the Glock is the option for more, ahem, persistent attackers.
Of course, as many opponents of gun control, Svetlana is well-educated and aware of the historical and legal background surrounding the right to keep and bear arms. She is also aware of standard police procedures and tactics - something which hasn't proved useful yet - but still might. It's 2005 now, right?

Plot Hooks: If the characters are not yet involved in the Gun War, Svetlana could be their perfect guide, introducing them to various people and events. People looking for Cornered Rat, the Steel Maiden, Skunk, or Ferret Man might find her particularly helpful. She could also accompany Dark Vigilantian team on a mission related to the Gun War.

3 semi-auto Uzis, 2 Garand M1's, and 1 M-14 semi-auto. Rumours that Svetlana possesses several illegal select-fire rifles, are heavily denied.

Now, can we use Dark Vigilantian or similar to promote RKBA - maybe by running DV games at gamer conventions? Ideas?

Give Schmuckatelli a comb-over. Bad haircuts are always funny. Also, make him courageous. "This punk has a tatoo. Better call for backup."

Favorite line: "Judge, I seized a hi-cap mag in plain view from my lawful position on the sidewalk in front of the house."

OR "Judge, I stopped the defendant and searched his pickup (with the "BATF go to heck" bumper sticker) because I could see, from my following position, that his seatbelt was not fastened."

hmm. gurps is still better for firearms stuff. there are no fixed ranges for weapons, the effective range is determined by how 1337 you are at that particular weapon, with modifiers for distance, target size, and speed.

it's also pretty easy to convert RL guns into gurps.

Skunkabilly Character Sheet. I kept my promise.

The Skunk

The Skunk is a jaded city boy from Los Angeles, where he rejected "his post-modern "tolerant" toucheyfeelie upbringing and experienced a tactical epiphany". Specializes in handguns, computers and data recovery. His main weakness is a pathological ineptness with communicating with women. He is obsessed with installing new and more advanced "Tactical" accessories on his firearms (laser sights, custom triggers, etc.)
Even though the Skunk is Asian by origin, he has acquired himself a bunch of "American" hobbies, such as playing the Banjo and shooting. Strangely enough, The Skunk inhabits California - even though most other gun enthusiasts will describe it as "the place were bad gun nuts go when they die". Skunk kinda likes it, though.
Somehow, Skunk is a man surrounded by rumours. Some say that he has acquired some sort of mystical-martial-arts-super-duper-ninja training. Others - that those looking for the Ferret Man may be well-served by contacting the Skunk.

I like gurps, because i can use a spreadsheet to spit out damages based on bullet weight, MV, caliber and density of the projectile.

the spreadsheet i had (and need to go acquire again) even had varying damage based on barrel length.

[raises hand] I'm vertigo7, and I'm a gun nut and a gaming geek.

I just put the finishing touches on a new character type for my Rifts game [yes, I know, as if Rifts weren't loaded with enough powergamer baloney as is]: the Coalition Grammaton Cleric.

R. Talsorian?

Reeks of Cyberpunk. One of my favorite games.

I still have the original game in a box somewhere I think.

Anyone else ever play this?

Except that 9mm and .45 do the same amount of damage per round. But 9mms have way more capacity. Guess what everyone carries in Gurps.

GURPS Trivia Attacks!
Actually, .45's hurt more than 9mms in GURPS. There is a rule(in a table on the lower right corner of the gun page, IIRC) that anything .40 cal and up does 1.5x damage after calculating Damage Resistance(the effects of armor or other protection). A newer rule(GURPS Compendium II) states that anything .60 cal and up(such as most shotgun slugs) does double damage after DR.

It might help your campaign to determine more about Blunkett's motivations.

He genuinely hates the "crazy gun nuts"
Why?
Does he suffer from a major delusion that "gun nuts" are a threat to National Security, Public Safety, or Life As We Know It?
How does such a disconnection from reality otherwise interfere with his life?
Does he have a pro-rights ex-wife somewhere who might be able to reason with him?
Is he abusing his authority to carry out a vendetta against her, and can this be proven?
Does he suffer from Misplaced Zeal? Does he mistakenly blame "gun nuts" or the "gun culture" for the death of a loved one, perhaps? Has he figured out that he was wrong? Is he too proud to admit it?
and will stoop to anything to "defeat" them, especially if he can get a salary raise in the process.
Is his "hatred" of gun nuts merely an act to hide his lusts for power and wealth?
Is he a sadist who has found a semi-acceptable outlet for his urges?

IMHO, based on what you have described, he would almost certainly have to be severely delusional or lying for his own gain. I have trouble with the idea that he hates gun nuts due to ignorance. Even we mere peasants can access the FBI's Uniform Crime Reports, CDC mortality data, and various USDOJ articles.
He would be able to access crime data that most people could only dream about, especially if accurate gun crime statistics were unavaliable to Ordinary Average Law-Abiding Citizens(OALACs) in the game world. Blunkett would have access to the truth, even if he refuses to face it.
I hoe that these ideas will help.

Elmer Snerd,

You only need to socialize in a predominately "liberal" environment to know that people like Blunkett exist for purely ideological reasons.

I got an idea for a character,

A gun has to be at least 40yo to become interesting for Retro-Man. His hobby is to rescue old guns from pawnshops for repair and restoration.

Retro-Man's carry will be the classic S&W triple lock .44 revolver or a Colt New Service .45 revolver. He might even carry a .38 caliber Webley-Fosbury automatic revolver just cause he feels like it. Retro-Man has an affinity for milsurp bolt action rifles, the US .30 caliber 1917 Enfield being one of his favorites.

Rifles +5
Handguns +4 (Revolvers +5)
SMG's +2
Shotgun +3
blades +1 (fixed bayonet +2)
Gunsmith +4
Machinist +4
History +5
