You either get one with bedding already done, or you have to pay for bedding later.

Get the 700P with bedding already there; aluminum bedding would seem to beat whatever Remington has on there normally.

What function will the rifle be expected to serve?

Hunting, benchrest?

In everyday shooting the quality of the scope you choose to put on will probably make as much or more difference than which of those two rifles you end up buying. Maybe you should save the extra money for a nice scope??

Shot the PSS 700 in .223 did not like the trigger. The HS stock with the full bedding is a 300 buck item itself.
The PSS I shot had the Rem. Syn. stock and was priced $620. in .223 or .308.
I'm a sucker for those laminate stocks. I'm a little tired of BLACK guns.
If you got the VLS with the little extra you saved you could get a real nice trigger. and maybe later do a pillar bedding your self!
